WOODBRIDGE – The Woodbridge Democratic Organization (WDO) voted unanimously Monday evening to re-elect James Durek as Chairman and Michele Jaker as Vice-chair. In a demonstration of full support from the committee, Durek and Jaker were unopposed in their nominations.
Mayor John E. McCormac praised the unanimous vote saying, “Jim and Michele have done a tremendous job in leading our party. Their commitment to maintaining a strong and open Democratic organization has allowed us to bring new ideas and people into the party.”
In recent years Democrats have won the Mayor and all nine council seats in Woodbridge.
Durek says the organization’s victories are due to the hard work of the committee. “The real strength of this organization is our committee people and their tireless effort to deliver our Democratic message of good and responsible government to their neighbors.”
The WDO, led by Durek and Jaker, displayed their grassroot strength in the 2006 Special Election for Mayor in which John McCormac won all 72 election districts in a four-way race.
The WDO has nominated Mayor John E. ‘Mac’ McCormac and Councilpersons Gregg Ficarra, Brenda Yori Velasco, James Carroll and Patricia Osborne for re-election in November.
