Oroho Appointed To "Red Tape" Review Commission

Senator Steve Oroho, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, announced today that he was appointed to the governor's "Red Tape Review Group." The group was created by Executive Order 3, on Governor Christie's first day in office.

"I am honored that Senator Kean chose me to represent our caucus on Governor Christie's Red Tape Review Group," Oroho stated. "It is obvious that reforming our regulatory process needs to be our top priorities."

The Group was created to review all pending and proposed rules and regulations, as well as all Executive Orders from previous administrations, in order to assess their effects on New Jersey's economy. In addition, the Group will determine whether the burdens of state rules, regulations and Executive Orders on business and workers outweigh their intended benefits.

The Group will be chaired by the lieutenant governor. It is required to submit a written report to the governor within 90 days detailing what actions to take on regulations that encumber business.

"This commission could have the most profound, immediate effect on the cost of doing business in the state, and the cost of government itself," Oroho continued, "This is a common-sense step that is long overdue, it will send the right message to working families that New Jersey is a committed partner in creating a more competitive environment, creating jobs and new opportunities across the state."
