Vas must explain this very questionable sweetheart deal to the taxpayers, its THEIR money!" "And now there is documentation!" Exclaimed 19th District Republican Assembly Candidate Paul Danielczyk.
That comment followed the revelations printed in a local newspaper, of a near $300,000 profit made in a matter of months by Assemblyman Joseph Vas “flipping” a 12-unit property to a contractor with apparent associations to the “scandal-ridden” Schools Construction Corporation.“As a real estate salesman, I recognize that people can and do make profits buying and selling properties. But when the mayor of a town obviously uses his power to grant $360,000 to his purchaser as part of the deal, that’s wrong on every level.” Danielczyk was referring to a $360,000 Regional Contribution Act (RCA) grant given to 97-99 DeKalb Associates a month after the purchase.
“RCA funds are to assist in the development of and/or rehabilitation of residential units designated as ‘low income housing’ and not to line the pockets of politicians”, Danielczyk added."It is only logical to question if Assemblyman Vas used his connections as part of the Education committee, as well as lessons learned granting “over-development” projects throughout Perth Amboy to cement this deal, "Danielczyk continued.
Perth Amboy activists and critics of Vas’ brand of representation have challenged him on over development projects, questionable deals with developers (many hiding under the banner of an LLC which makes it nearly impossible to discover with whom business is being done), and with the total loss of credibility due to his distortions of facts. As one activist put it, “When we distort the truth in ‘real life’ it’s called lying, when Vas does it, it’s called ‘trust me’.”
“We all have referred to politicians as ‘self-serving’, ‘double dippers’, and as ’being in it for themselves", but rarely do we see evidence of all three in one person at one time", Danielczyk stated. "Vas MUST come clean on this controversial transaction, which would put any ordinary developer in the sights of the US Attorney for the District of New Jersey!"
Danielczyk concluded.Danielczyk encouraged the media and taxpayers to peruse some of the documentation on: http://www.amboyfacts.com/dekalb.pdf

"The history of failed attempts at health care reform reaches back decades. But more important than the historical achievement is what the reformed system will do for everyday Americans. We aren't just making history, we are making a better health care system." -- U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-Long Branch), on the passage of health care reform legislation.
