Once again this year, a Democrat has resigned from the Bogota Council. Yesenia Frias resigned in 2009. Judy Pesce resigned in 2009. In addition, earlier in this year, Mayor McHale resigned only to rescind his resignation a few hours later and then sent out a letter three weeks later stating “There must be a better way”. In 2007, a Democrat George Silos also resigned.
This time, it was Democrat John Lyons, who has resigned under an ethical cloud. He is under a criminal investigation by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for embezzling about $4,600 from an informal fund, which Mr. Lyons oversaw. This fund consisted of contributions from his fellow correction officers and was supposed to be used for their benefit. Lyons mentioned none of these issues in his surprise E-mailed Blackberry resignation on Tuesday, October 27th, noting only that he was resigning for “personal matters”.
The behavior of Mr. Lyons has been so typical of the systematic corruption, lack of transparency, unaccountable government, incompetence, self-interest and malfeasance which has marked Democratic rule in New Jersey for the past eight years.
During 12 years of efficient, honest and competent Republican rule in Bogota, property taxes increased by less than the rate of inflation on an annualized basis and Bogota had a thriving business district. During the past three years of Democratic rule in Bogota, property taxes have exploded and Bogota’s business district is emptying out.
We need a change in Bogota and throughout Bergen County and New Jersey. We need a new direction and an end to the failed eight years of disastrous Democratic rule. Instead of admitting his mistakes, “Governor” Corzine actually thinks that he deserves re-election and is now spending millions of dollars trying to buy another election and running a vicious smear campaign of lies and deception against Chris Christie, who put away a lot of Corzine’s fellow corrupt Democrats in jail.
We call on all Republicans, Independents, and disaffected Democrats in Bogota to vote for the entire Republican Ticket: Chris Christie for Governor, Kim Guadagno for Lt. Governor, Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz and Barry Bellin for State Assembly, John Driscoll and Rob Hermansen for Freeholder and our Local Candidates Paul Duggan, Raymond Herr and Guillermo Martinez for Council on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009.
IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE IN NEW JERSEY POLITICS!
THIS IS THE CHANCE THAT VOTERS HAVE TO CHANGE NEW JERSEY!
