FAILED, INCOMPETENT ANTI-TAXPAYER DEMOCRATIC SLATE HAS NOT TOLD US WHAT THEY WOULD DO REGARDING STATE PENSIONS AND HEALTH CARE.

With New Jersey facing an estimated present value of $75 Billion in future liabilities for State Pensions and Health Care, Governor Corzine, State Senator Loretta Weinberg, and Assembly members Gordon Johnson and Valerie Huttle still have not told the voters what they would do regarding this impending state crisis. 

Despite the fact that Governor Corzine has been the Governor for more than three and half years, Weinberg has been in the State Legislature since 1992, Johnson in the State Assembly since 2001 and Huttle in the State Assembly since 2005, this anti-Taxpayer slate still has no concrete plan to solve New Jersey’s looming fiscal deficit that they helped create.

As a Taxpayer advocate, I would suggest the following three reform steps to begin:

1)      Any convicted politician of a felonious offense or worse automatically forfeits all of their State Pension and their Health Care Coverage during Retirement.

2)      Regardless of what age that they retire, no government worker or politician can begin collecting their state pension or health care before the age of 60.

3)       The Yearly Pension Benefit received should be based on the Average of Each Year worked and not just the past Three or Five Years. This would end the current patronage practice from Democratic political machines that inflate retirement benefits by giving a high paying job at the end of the working years.

These reforms would go a long way to solve the looming fiscal shortfall.  Governor Corzine had a chance to bring about meaningful Pension and Health Care reform two years ago – instead he vetoed the legislation that would have achieved it and said that he would negotiate these contracts with individual Government Unions on a case-by-case basis.  Afterwards, every contract, that he negotiated himself, was a bad deal for the taxpayer.

Health Insurance Rates for New Jersey Public Employees in more than 250 school districts will rise by 25% for next year after a state commission voted to approve the increase on July 22^nd, 2009.   These four Democrats need to tell voters: how are they going to pay for this premium increase and explain why did these Health Insurance Premiums go up so much during their watch?

New Jersey can no longer afford to have Jon Corzine as Governor and Loretta Weinberg as Lieutenant Governor or return Assembly members Gordon Johnson and Valerie Huttle to the Legislature given their disastrous anti-Taxpayer records.
