Whelan asks for state help in Atlantic City

Amidst the chaos of the Atlantic City power struggle for who will become the next mayor, Assemblyman/state Senate candidate Jim Whelan is calling for the state to look into ways of helping the city while it suffers through “governmental paralysis.”

Whelan wants the Office of Legislative Services to draw up plans to stabilize the government, especially in its casino-related functions.

“Atlantic City's tourism and gaming industry is the lifeblood of South Jersey's economy.  We cannot allow the city's governmental paralysis to leave unattended the needs and questions of existing and potential casino operators,” said Whelan, who also talked to Gov. Corzine about getting state resources.

Whelan asked his opponent, Sen. James “Sonny” McCullough, to join him in a bi-partisan call for state aid.  But McCullough didn’t sound enthusiastic at the prospect.

“Jimmy Whelan is the leading Democrat in Atlantic County.  He called for (former Mayor) Levy to leave office, made a spectacle with the governor and drew negative attention to Atlantic City because of a missing mayor,” said McCullough, who added that Whelan should have showed up to the recent controversial Atlantic City Democratic Committee meeting where they chose three possible replacement for Levy.

“I don’t think he’s the guy to lead anything when he can’t even assist his own party in choosing the new mayor,” said McCullough.

Whelan and the Democrats hurting Atlantic City.

Jim Whelan wants to turn over Atlantic City to money hungry devouring Democratic machine. Local control is vital in protecting the Atlantic City and New Jersey economy. If the lawyers who head the democratic machine grap a total hold on Atlantic City....Good Bye to the heart of the South Jersey ecomony. Why did the Democrats and Jim Whelan play ball with Callaway in the first place? If they could not see he was a thug...they are blind!!!!

Where was Whelan during AC Mayor's Meeting?

Where was Whelan during AC Mayor replacement meeting?

Shouldn't he help the local Democrat party during during these crazy times?

Whelan always seems to disappear when Atlantic City can really use him to step up and lead the Democrats. Where was Whelan when the Democrats shut down the casino industry last July?

When Jim Whelan is most needed in Atlantic City....he disappears .....he does not lead.

Whelan Wants

a state take over of A.C. so his boss, George Norcross, can rape the taxpayers again, just like he's doing in Camden. Whelan has no interest in who the next mayor is, that's why he wasn't at the Dirtycrat Committee meeting. The state of affairs in this State is sickening.

Whelan asks for state help

It's Time for the people of Atlantic City to retire the DEMOCROOKS in AC.

It's time for Jim Whelan to fade into the sunset.

Whelan's coverup

Whelan couldn't care less about AC. This is all about his paying back his lord and master George Norcross. The way Norcross "helped" Camden is the way he will help AC--- just helping himself to alot of taxpayers' money and the heck with everyone else. It's a good thing Whalen is so tall. You need a lot of room to hold all that BS.

Whelan Has A Lot of Nerve

Anyone who has followed Whelan's political life in Atlantic City can recall how many times Whelan spoke out AGAINST State intervention. Whelan's call for State assistance is simply Jimmy wanting to have a hand in "policy" again in Atlantic City. Jimmy gave us Bob Levy. I recall Levy sitting next to Mayor Whelan when every decision was being made during Whelan's reign. Bob Levy and Jim Whelan were architects of ZERO pay raises for all City employees for 2 years. Now Jimmy wants Corzine to assist the City. Corzine and his Democrats (after the tax increase) have given us a projected $3b dollar fiscal deficit, now we want Corzine to help us manage Atlantic City? No, thank you, I'll take my chances with anybody but Corzine, Whelan and Norcross.

Ask State for Help ??????????

Amazing, Whelan wants a state that is bankrupt and can't run it's own affairs to step in and help Atlantic City.

State takeover is code for who controls the  Bader Field for the eventual cash cow from contracts this valuable land will be.

I smell a former District 2 Senator in this one.
