Bergen County Freeholder Tomas Padilla will resign within the next 45 days to take on increased responsibility at the Hackensack Police Department following the resignation of Ken Zisa.  Padilla was not seeking re-election this year and is captain at the Hackensack P.D.  That will trigger a special election convention to fill the remaining half-year of his Freeholder term; the likely winner is Northvale Mayor John Hogan, who is the Democratic nominee for his seat on the Board of Freeholders.
