One week after losing two Freeholder seats, a group of county and state Democratic officials from Bergen County met last night to protect the status quo and unite - at least for now - behind the re-election of all incumbents in 2010, including Bergen County Democratic Chairman Michael Kasparian. Democrats are anxious to hold off discussions about a possible replacement for Kasparian, who is unlikely to run again, until they figure out who they have to replace him.
Publicly, elected officials want Bergen County Executive Dennis C. McNerney, Sheriff Leo McGuire, and Freeholders James Carroll, Tomas Padilla and Elizabeth Calabrese to seek re-election. But privately, Democrats sense that McNerney, a protégé of convicted former Democratic leader Joseph Ferriero, could lose his bid for re-election to a third term. And if McNerney loses, Democratic control of the Board of Freeholders could also be in jeopardy. McGuire is anxious to run for County Executive, but he won't do it unless McNerney steps down first.

"Democrats want Republicans to go first and pick a candidate before they decide if they want to pull the incumbent." = If it is Kathe Donovan, they're in serious trouble. Anyone else, McNerney will win. Donovan is the only shot Republicans have at taking back the county.
Hermansen if he doesn't do congress
Garrett is the issue, he is not conservative enough and we need someone from Bergen County. With the family values Republicans now proudly in charge in the BCRO, Donovan will never win.
Also Chris Chrsitie better start picking some good Republicans for good jobs fron Bergen. Bergen deserves Port Authority, NJ Transit. NJ Sports and Expo Authority, Highlands Commission.
This is for the Republicans to lose...
by selecting unelectable candidates and corrosive infighting. That's the BCDO's only hope. Otherwise, expect more slash-and-burn attack ads, because if they put the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight in any of their advertising, they're going to lose Big Time. You know what they say: you can't turn landfills into parks! Oh, never mind, just keep practicing that golf swing!
Wally stop causin a panic
McNerney will be the nominee.
He has nothing to worry about. The county committee will support him.
What concerns me is the BCRO having more trouble finding a nominee
1. Yudin/Cardinale will not be happy with Donovan. they will start a war over her being the nominee
2. Hermansen is not an issue. The guy won because he ran on the same line as Chris Chritie. Thats all
3. Jack Zisa or Trawinski would be a good choice, but they will lose to mcnerney
