So...

I'm wondering, what counties will Chris Christie even be able to pick up.

Corzine is probably going to safely win Essex, Hudson, Union, and Camden Counties, and Christie is probably going to win Ocean, Monmouth, Cape May, Somerset, Morris, Hunterdon, Warren, and Sussex Counties.

Bergen County could, in theory, be a swing county, but picking Weinberg as second chair is pretty much tantamount to a Prez candidate picking someone from Ohio as their Veep. Likely Corzine.

Passaic County used to be a swing county, but linking Christie to Bush is probably going to turn Arab American voters away from Christie. Likely Corzine

Middlesex County has a lot of college students, and although Corzine has screwed them over, they don't think Christie will be any better in terms of higher education funding. Plus, Obama still has a lot of pull. Lean Corzine

Mercer County is basically Middlesex County + state workers. Corzine wins by a fairly decent margin. Likely Corzine

Burlington County could go for Christie, however, it has a growing African American community and Norcross is stretching his tentacles out here. Toss-up

Gloucester County in theory could be Christie country, a lot of Reagan Democrats here who are in opposition to Corzine's policies. But this is also Norcross County, so Lean Corzine.

Salem County is basically like Gloucester County, except more rural. Lean Christie

Cumberland County is like Salem county, except with more Hispanics and most of the population living in the distressed cities of Vineland and Bridgeton. Lean Corzine

Atlantic County is a tossup.

Apples and Oranges

Doug Forrester was a dud from the minute he won the GOP Primary  in '05 and the numbers reflect that. There was absolutely no energy for Forrester and he never had a legitimate chance of winning that election.

Much different scenario four years later.
