Gov. Jon Corzine leads Christopher Christie 42%-33% among likely voters, with 7% for Christopher Daggett, according to a Suffolk University poll released today. Nine other independent candidates were included in the poll, with Jason Cullen, Alvin Lindsay and Gary Steele each receiving 1% of the vote.
"Independent Chris Daggett struggles to be found on the ballot, which benefits Jon Corzine, whose campaign is peaking at the right time for him," said David Paleologos, director of the Political Research Center at Suffolk University in Boston. "The poll tells us that voters believe Corzine is the best choice of the twelve candidates and the most comfortable choice of the major three. The bottom line is that, if this trend holds, it will be an amazing comeback for Jon Corzine."
Corzine has favorables of 45%-46%, while Christie is at 34%-46%. Daggett has favorables of 20%-20%.
The Suffolk University statewide poll was conducted October 2-29 with a sample size of 400 and has a margin of error of +/- 5%.

I'm melting
That's what the Republican is saying after these poll numbers, down from over 50% in summer.
Notice Corzine stays constant in 39-42% range.
Corzine is going to win; the question is whether he breaks 45%. Once people think Christie cannot win, that protest vote is going to go to Daggett, who could get over 20% for real.
prediction: Corzine 46%, Christie 31%, Daggett 21%, others 2%
christie is in free fall
I further predict he will leave a big crater.
So who will the next republican statewide candidate be?
Too funny
And I would imagine that the next poll will have Corzine up 12. Does he think NJ is that dumb? At least pick a polling firm that has polled here before Jon.
Christie is up and growing...thats why the Corzine slime crew has been working O.T. with its parade of National Dems.
The money is going to flow big out of money bags in the last 7 days ...God I wish I ran a church this week.
"Don't let the facts get in the way"...Corzine '09
we shall see
Let's not for get the star ledger had florio up by 26 point the week before the election over Whitman, and we all remember who won.
DUMP CORZINE!
Gored is a paid Christie worker
The reason national Dems are coming in to support Corzine is because it appears that Deeds is done in Virginia. This way, when Corzine wins, Obama can say he had something to do with it and that will salvage healthcare reform. Dems want the Corzine victory to be seen as a national victory for the party.
Well Too Bad!
Too bad for a national victory for the party. What about the people? The party ceases to exist without the people. Now I know the Democratic drones will come out in force with the support of the Gov's motor pool...But the voters who live in the suburbs, the ones who foot the bill, are fed up with the mismanagement of the state. Everyone acts like its 'up for grabs' and this state is being tossed around. Corzine is a disinterested politican. He is not interested in the job. Obama has to come here 3 times!?! This guy is that poor of a gov, that a very popular president has to shill for him? I cant wait to see Corzine leave the statehouse. Has anyone been paying attention to what is going on in NJ? Does anyone care? How could you vote with what Corzine is doing? He says schools are being built, but he doesnt tell you that SCC is tied up in a bid process issue with the state, so nothing is being done right now!! Just look at the construction sites in NJ, work has stopped!
Excuse Me
Is this another Mountaintop Poll?
This should say "Advertisement" on it. There is no indication pollster cited. Wally, your stock went down with this disinformation.
Every other poll has this at a 1-3pt race
Exactly who was Suffolk polling? Corzine's family members? lol
This Pol l is wrong.
Any poll that says that Corzine's favorables vs unfavorables is 45% to 46% is obviously nuts when everyone knows that Corzine is viewed unfavorably by 60% of all voters. Who did they poll, just Essex and Hudson counties. What a joke. Also take into account that this poll was commissioned by the Boston Globe which is owned by the New York Times. So you can see the leftist influence. Liberals produce polls in an attempt to influence opinion and to create a herd mentality. This tactic is all out of the Marxist playbook that liberals have as their Bible .
Margin of Error: +/-5
I think that says all we need to know about this joke of a poll.

The Suffolk University statewide poll was conducted October 2-29
October 29????
Today is October 26, 2009
They only polled 400 people over a period of 27 days?????
"The Suffolk University statewide poll was conducted October 2-29 with a sample size of 400 and has a margin of error of +/- 5%."
Jesus Christ! Could this poll have been any more poorly orchestrated? They only polled 400 people over a period of 27 days and it has a 5% margin of error!
Nailed It
Good postings.
Maybe I should produce a poll !
The seem to take anyone's word for it at this point. LOL
Come On
Sewer is one word I would use to describe NJ. Even 3rd world countries are cleaner. It looks like a garbage truck exploded over the state. I'm glad I have another residence in Hilton Head. That way I can watch from a distance our state collapsing.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
"Jesus Christ! Could this poll have been any more poorly orchestrated? They only polled 400 people over a period of 27 days and it has a 5% margin of error!"
Four hundred likely voters were polled from October 2nd thru the 29th. I'm in tears from laughing so hard!! Perhaps the folks at Suffolk University have a time machine!

Disappointing Candidate
It's a shame that Christie was the best candidate that the Republicans came up with. He's not likable or believable. It's better the democrats take the seat (and all the blame) until the Republicans can come up with a great candidate to clean up the mess. If Christie wins, nothing will change and the Republicans will be blamed for everything.

I think Alan's post proves that he has gotten a jump on using medical marijuana.
Christie will win by 4.....bank on it
Read the poll
First the poll was Oct 22-25. If you had read the actual toplines rather that just skim the summary presented here you would have found that out and the top line numbers on partisianship etc. seems to be inline with other NJ polls. This poll has all the same issues as any poll but nothing is that glaring.
A more interesting number than the horse race is who the voters think is going to win: 58% of respondents said Corzine, 24% Christie. That would indicate a collapsing of confidence in Christie. Many of his own supporters have lost confidence.
And regarding the horse race number Suffolk pushed the undecided to make a choice- the leaners broke for the devil they know.
Why are there more articles
Why are there more articles on polling then there are talking about the things Corzine has done good for in the state? Because Corzine hasn't done that much good for the state. Less polling. More articles. If people really think Corzine deserves to be re-elected then why hasn't there been any proof of the good he has done? I don't even think hard dems know the answer to that question.
Christie has no base
The conservative base never liked nor trusted Christie. While some will hold their noses and vote for him, many will not.
Republicans are a minority party to begin with in this state. Then, by picking a left-of-center nominee, we've alienated a significant portion of our own voters. We've shot ourselves in the foot yet again. Someday we will realize that we can't simply call ourselves conservatives. We must actually vote that way........in JUNE!
Who Will Win The World Series?
Are we discussing a sporting event? NJ voters forget that the little things happening after elections are what matter. When you make a decision in the ballot booth, you ought not to be happy or sad when the results are counted. After the election is over, are we going to see our representatives working for their constituents, or will it be more corruption and selfish disregard that is forgotten when a big party is thrown to celebrate? Wake up NJ. We have a huge corruption problem. Correcting it should be everyone's first concern. It will take engaged citizens who are willing to examine facts and measure performance. If our current government was running a business, there would be many folks looking for new jobs. Take a chance and vote for the Governor who will address the corruption.
