It's Christie or bust

I am not a fan of Chris Christie. I don't believe he is the answer to NJ pressing debt problems, high property taxes, etc, but anyone is better than Jon Corzine and The GOP also needs to shake the Legislature up to.

It would be nice if the current poll holds up. I think it will.

I don't believe the polls showing Christie & Corzine even.

I think they are skewed by the press.

Vote NO! to politics as usual

Governor- Elect Christie

It all depends on voter turnout. Daggett will not receive above 12% if that. We will have to see how many Dems come out for Corzine. I believe it will be a very low voter turn out which will benefit Chris Christie.

10/23/09 9:51 pm

It will be Christie

Chris Will Win

We can do this! This is the first time I have ever been so set on needing a republican in NJ. It is such a mess, we need a hardass in the Gov'ship. Chris is the only one who is mad about what is going on, and Corzine does not seem interested in the job as gov, hence the kids running the candy shop, and the shady financial deals that we pay GS for still to this day!!
I am voting for Chrisie, Corzine can spend 100M of his own money trying to bring Chris down, but we are going to vote him up! NJ is fed up with the gross mismanagement of OUR wealth. I would go as far as saying we would need full turnover this NOV.

10/25/09 10:45 pm

You guys are delusional

Christie is toast. Corzine wins 47, Christie, 33, Dagget 20.

10/26/09 11:36 pm

Daggett will win

PolitickerNJ Predicts Chris Daggett will surge in the polls win election because voters are fed up

Corzine and Christie are not the real problem.

Corzine and Christie are not the real problem.

It is the broken corrupt two-party system. It needs to go.

A vote for Corzine or Christie is a Vote for Corruption

A vote for Corzine or Christie is a Vote the corrupt two party system that got us in the is mess.

A vote for Corzine or Christie is condoning the corruption and scandal over the last 20 years that has made NJ the worst business and tax climate in the country.

Daggett Wins by a Nose

It’s come down to a week before the “Big Race” for Corzine, Christie and Daggett. The track is muddy; it’s raining and the 3 “horses” are in the starting gate. As the starters pistol cracks the thick, eerily quiet air, they’re off and running.

Corzine takes an early lead, followed by Christie; Daggett lags behind, hugging the rail.
Rounding the first turn, Christie seems to be hitting his stride and pulls ahead of Corzine,
Daggest is still running on the inside, 2 lengths behind Corzine.

As they near the far turn, Corzine falters; Daggett over-takes him. Down the home stretch, front-running Daggett and Christie both pass Corzine. Now a deafening roar from the grandstrands greets the galloping pack, racing for the finish line.

Daggett’s leading, with Christie 1 length behind and Corzine struggling last. It’s a photo-finish: Daggett wins by a nose. A smitten Christie places second. Corzine’s an also-ran.

Interested in true results

Posting this poll around the net on conservative leaning sites, and then telling people to vote everyday is not going to bring any kind of accurate results.

10/28/09 10:28 am

I am for Corzine all the way

I believe that chris christie is not for the people and will try to do the people of NJ in first chance he gets the low incoem people like my self need to get out and vote for corzine if you want any kind of future for you and your families and NJ do the right thing people stand up and vote for Corzine he will stand behinde you and not hang you out to dry....Renee Gosier GOOOOOOOOO Corzine!!!!

10/28/09 12:09 pm

How could you nasta?

Corzine has killed low income property taxes. He has driven up costs to the higher education sector, and has bankrupted our economy.

Corzine has hung NJ out to dry. And has allowed unions to waste the most amount of tax payer money. He gives them no bid contracts, when we can get a lower price for same work.

Daggett is the only way to go. Stop the corruption and stop the out of control Corzine spending. Wall Street went bankrupt cause of their failed policies, and Corzine is from Wall Street with the same policies.

Go Daggett!

10/28/09 1:35 pm

It's gotta be Daggett

How could you vote for anyone other than Chris Daggett? An actual plan and don't spend money you don't have? What a novel idea!

"we need a hardass in the

"we need a hardass in the Gov'ship"

Daggett Koolaide Drinkers...

it is one thing to like a guy who proposes jacking up sales taxes by $4 billion and voting for him... it's another to act like a nut and say he will win... the guy has not broken 20% in any poll whatsoever and typically hovers at less than 50% of what Corzine or Christie has. If you actually think he has a chance of winning, you should seriously have your head examined. Wake up and smell the coffee ya Koolaide drinking weirdos... Daggett does nothing but make it more likely that Corzine wins reelection and NOTHING changes. If you are OK with that, go cast your protest vote... but bitch at noone if Corzine wins.

10/28/09 11:17 pm

Re: Daggett Koolaide Drinkers...

I thought name-calling went out with the fall of the Bush near-dynasty. Demonizing anyone they disliked was their "modus operandi." Calling Daggett supporters "Koolaide drinking weirdos" does nothing but emphasize the ignorance of name-callers like "ImWithStupid." That pen name is very appropriate for the writer.

10/29/09 10:49 am

If Christie loses, the NJ GOP becomes irrelevant

You haven't won a Senate seat since 1972 and a Governor's race since 1997. Christie was supposed to be your best candidate in years: a prosecutor with a moderate streak to match NJ's voters. If he loses, you're stuck as the minority party on almost every level. Nothing more to do at that point then form the circular firing squad.

10/29/09 1:46 pm

Dear frugal Senior...

Like I said, if you like Daggett, that's fine and all. I can respect that. But if you are insane enough to actually believe he is going to win, I have some names/labels for you. (1) Koolaide drinking weirdos. (2) Delusional. (3) Nutty. (4) Ignorant. (5) Ill-informed. I mean... really now... how does someone more than double their poll number support in less than one week when they have almost no money and only one major newspaper endorsement? If you think he is going to win, you are not just a frugal senior... you are a delusional one with serious brain malfunctions. I bet you are one of those seniors who sit around playing scratch-offs at the Wawa thinking the odds are good. They are better odds than Dagget winning, but they still suck.

10/29/09 3:17 pm

Another thing Frugal Senior...

I do not dislike you. I love you. I just pity how delusional you are. Hugs and kisses, Imwithstupid.

10/29/09 3:19 pm

ImWithStupid

I suspect "ImWithStupid" is a paid GOP operative connected either with the Christie campaign and/or GOP legislative staff. Anyway he sounds like someone who's really scared that moderate Republicans and independents will switch from "Morriscounty Fats" to Daggett and thereby swing the election to Corzine.

"go cast your protest vote... but bitch at noone if Corzine wins."

I won't lose any sleep if Corzine wins even though I voted by msil for Daggett.

10/29/09 5:57 pm

The NJGOP already is irrelevant, dcdem

They know it. They'll even admit it, in their more candid moments. And they did it to themselves. They were on top of the world in the 90s.

"Dead man, walking!"

Christie will definately win

Christie will definately win. Momentum is on his side. Think about this: Corzine has outspent Christie 3 to 1 in the last month, Obama, Biden and Clinton have all come into NJ to endorse him and Corzine is still either behind in the polls or in a statistical dead heat. Nobody with any intelligence will vote for Daggett. He can't win. Most of Daggett's votes will go to Christie. Corzine let loose on the fact that he want's to again sell the Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. A politically unpopular plan. I predict a final vote count of 50% for Christie, 46% for Corzine, 2% for Daggett and 2% for others. People want change and Christie offers that change.

Obama

I see that everyone is talking about our Commander-N-Chief.  Was it not Bush and Wall Street that got us in this?  If Obama had not given the funds out to the states, what a problem we would have to deal with.  NO ONE was talking when BUSH was in office, was that because he was not talking to you???  I wish each of us would give him a chance, then we can have something constructed to say about him.  Your ex-president when away and as of today he is still not talking about the problem he left us with.  Call Bush and ask him and see if he will talk about Health, Unemployement or any other problem you may have.

Remember, Obama did not start this, he walk into it.

You mean wall street like Goldman Sachs, the firm Corzine headed? yeah, those guys got us into this along with Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd who sucking up to banks and making them reduce their loan standards. Yup, those are the guys that got us into this.

11/01/09 5:18 pm

how quickly they forget!

NJ is 8 billion dollars in the hole because Christie Todd Whitman cut taxes and paid for it with a hairbrained pension bond scheme. Now we have another Christie making more stupid promises about cutting taxes. What B.S. When I paid my property taxes today in Wyckoff, the pie chart said that 70% of the money goes for schools. I don't have kids and I don't mind paying for your kids. When I hear people whining about their property taxes it makes me gag. Grow up you little infants. You want good schools? You want services? I know you don't want to save money by consolidating services among all the little townships and boroughs that litter our landscape because every time it's proposed, people whine and complain and say "I like it the way it is! I like my little town." Really? Well then stop whining like a five year old asking for candy at the checkout counter and pay your taxes like an adult. I'm fed up with Republican phony tax cutters. They offer nothing. Just more lies. We're saddled with debt. Let's at least pay of Whitman's 8 billion. Let's all pony up and pay that off before buying into another tax cutting Republican's B.S.

With 70% of my property taxes going for schools that leaves about $1000 per quarter paid for town and county services, including garbage, police, roads, parks etc. I think I get plenty for my $300 or so a month. SO STOP WHINING ABOUT YOUR TAXES AND PAY UP LIKE ADULTS. You want tax cuts? DEMAND SERVICE CUTS, WORSE SCHOOLS, INDIFFERENT AMATEUR COPS AND TEACHERS, DIRTY PARKS, pot holed roads and all the other great things you'll get for less money. The state is not that inefficiently run compared to many.

As for Chris Christie, he's promising tax cuts that he will not be able to give you. Don't be a sucker.

11/02/09 7:02 pm

oh yes it's all Barney Frank's fault

I guess Ms. Muffin forgets about:

“We can put light where there’s darkness, and hope where there’s despondency in this country. And part of it is working together as a nation to encourage folks to own their own home.” — President Bush, Oct. 15, 2002.

Bush was at least as responsible as Barney Frank and probably more so for the mortgage meltdown. HIs team pushed it hard and later at least they had to guts to admit they screwed up. I'll give guys like Al Hubbard, Keith Hennessey and other Bush economic advisors credit for admitting it.

So spare us the "it's all Barney Frank's fault" and Corzine is bad because he headed a Wall Street investment bank. Republicans playing the populist card has to be among the funniest things I can recall. Yes, vote in Republicans because they are for "the people." That's hilarious.

To Nastassia2003

First off, I believe you are a low income person. You should have paid more attention in school judging by the misspellings.
Second, you fail to see that voting for the democrats is voting for more entitlements from the government. People who get these entitlements become dependent on the government, they become slaves of the government. It's in your best interest to keep voting in the democrats so you can make sure that the entitlements will keep coming. Soon enough you forget how to stand on your own two feet. You can't stand without the help of the government. Meanwhile, the rest of us who work hard every day are getting taxed to death to support people like you who can't or won't support yourselves.
I don't begrudge someone a little help to get through tough times, but to spend your entire life on the public dole?
It's getting to the point that the public dole recipients will outnumber the working taxpayers. That will be the beginning of the end of this state and of the country. It will collapse under the weight of entitlement programs. Already half the federal budget goes to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicare Prescriptions for unfunded liabilities of over 105 Trillion Dollars. New Jersey's debt is 31 Billion Dollars (as of FY 2008)

We need to wake up and stop the runaway spending in Trenton and Washington. Voting for democrats will only continue the downward spiral.

11/03/09 12:55 am

Did you know?

Mr. Daggett worked in an appointed position for Corzine? It kinda makes you wonder why he's running in the first place.

"Recently, on behalf of Governor Corzine, he was appointed as chairman of the New Jersey DEP Permit Efficiency Task Force" -- Daggett's own website

No it was actually J Carter who got it started in '74' with the CRA and exacerbated by Clinton and pushed by the Dems later. Don't be a revisionist. Bush was no angel but the problem started long before him. And by the way Corzine is from GS the creator of it's own wealth not others.

11/03/09 5:35 am

Jon Corzine...

...was a failure at running Goldman Sachs, was a failure as a US Senator and has been a complete and utter failure as a Governor. The saddest part of all is that once Corzine loses tonight, Obama may very well give him a cabinet position in his administration and he will be a failure there too.

If there's anything we know about socialists, it's that they love to recycle and repackage the same failures over and over.

"Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do."- Benjamin Franklin

11/03/09 7:34 am

Oy, gevalt gottenyu!

Already that cabinet keeps me awake at night.

DON'T WASTE A VOTE ON DAGGETT

He has no chance to win and will only help keep NJ on the same road to bankruptcy; both fiscally and morally!!

VOTE CHRISTIE for real reform.

11/03/09 10:03 am

The added bonus if Corzine Loses...

Obama has been here 3 times to stomp for him. He couldn't get the Olympics to his native land and cannot get a BLUE state to vote blue!!!

11/03/09 10:04 am

Did you also know the Robo Calls for Daggett were funded by Dems

Yup! The Democrats wisely know that many of the votes Daggett gets are pulled from Christie. They funded Robo calls to likely R voters to get the vote out for Daggett!!!

11/03/09 10:06 am

Because it's a wasted vote genius!

Too bad it's not a 3 party system. That sucks but Daggett has a better chance of running across the Garden State Parkway on Memorial Day in a blindfold and not getting run over than winning today. A vote for Daggett is a vote for another $8 billion in taxes and corruption.

11/03/09 10:11 am

You better do some research rather than puking out what

you hear on the news. Obama hasn't been successful at anything he's done in his life of service other than get elected.

Do some research.

11/03/09 10:18 am

You're right and wrong, grooves

grooves, no one should mind paying for their own schools through property taxes, but but the problem, the inequity and the reason why proprerty taxes are so disproportionately high is because of the state's illegal system of school funding - the Abbott system.

Wyckoff is efficient with its own money, and has an excellent school system. I don't think it's the spending it does in itself that causes your bill to be so high, but the fact that you are paying the lion's share to perpetuate union jobs in failing and failed districts throughout the state. You don't have as many in Bergen as some of the others suburbanites in cunties like Essex do to support, but it is a statewide effect.

THAT'S the problem - continuing to throw good money after bad, especially because the money never makes it into the classroom in the urban districts, but is instead skimmed by the Democratic machines in those cities.

11/03/09 12:29 pm

Daggett's Robo Ads

I believe that since the democratic party supported Daggett to take votes from Chris Christie, those voters should have a chance to vote again.

11/03/09 4:51 pm

"I don't think it's the

"I don't think it's the spending it does in itself that causes your bill to be so high, but the fact that you are paying the lion's share to perpetuate union jobs in failing and failed districts throughout the state."

In other words it's because of unions and poor people we have high taxes.

Let's get rid of unions and poor people so taxpayers can keep more in their own bank account.

Or maybe we should just substitute Robin Hood for tax collectors and see how that works. Maybe Robin Hood can do a better job at redistributing resources from those who have more to those who have less.

Of course we can always try Steve Lonegan's Robin Hood in reverse plan to cut taxes for the rich and raise taxes on the poor who don't even have enough to buy food or pay their rent.

Now that's a nightmare. Steve Lonegan dressed like Robin Hood in tights taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich.
