The Asbury Park Press today endorsed Republicans John Bartlett and Gerry Little for re-election to the Ocean County Board of Freeholders. In the race for Somerset County Freeholder, the Courier-News endorsement went to incumbent Jack Ciattarelli and to Patrick Scaglione, who is seeking an open seat. Both are Republicans.

If Gannett was truly about change, they would have endorsed Democrats in Ocean and Somerset. This just proves that they are all about getting the GOP elected everywhere. Partisan hacks.
Gerry is okay
Barlett? Eh. What about Polhemus? Was he endorsed?
You know, you don't have to be a Dem to live in NJ. Or think that Dems are the end-all, be-all either.
They aren't.
Clarification to Oceans Edge
You have obviously misread my post. It was not my intention to imply that Dems are the be-all, end-all in New Jersey. I was merely remarking on the hypocrisy of the Gannett chain this election cycle. The Gannett chain is, fairly or unfairly, all about change this cycle.
That means Christie for Governor and a Republican Legislature. However, the GOP majorities in Somerset and Ocean are the antithesis of change. These majorities are just as stale, if not more so, than the Dem majority in the Legislature.
Therefore, if Gannett were truly about change in the Garden State this year, they'd be endorsing the change candidates in Ocean and Somerset (obviously the Democratic freeholder candidates). The endorsement of GOP freeholder incumbents in those counties, however, means that Gannett is all about Republicans this cycle and these editorials have nothing to do with the desire for change or good government.
