There is another delay in the nomination of Paul Fishman as New Jersey's next United States Attorney. The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee approved Fishman's nomination on September 24, along with federal prosecutor nominees from Hawaii, Nebraska and the Western District of Washington. The next morning, Majority Leader Harry Reid put all four nominees on a list to be included in the next unanimous consent calendar vote. On September 29, the U.S. Senate voted to confirm the other three U.S. Attorney nominees, but not Fishman. That means at least one U.S. Senator has raised a private objection to the nomination. Democrats might prefer that the new federal prosecutor not be the one to sign off on requests for documents from Gov. Jon Corzine's re-election campaign regarding the former U.S. Attorney, GOP gubernatorial candidate Christopher Christie.

An AP(5:13pm, 10-03-09) story tells of a bio tech company whose chief executive was convicted of wire fraud after a 7 week trial. He made false and misleading statements about the results of a clinical trial. This case was brought by the US Justice Department. Note: No DPA. No $52 million no bid contract to monitor the perps. No fundraisers for the US Attorney who now runs for Governor of NJ. Somewhere there is justice.(San Francisco, Ca.) Maybe there is a culture of corruption in NJ.
