Rabbi Israel Dwek, the spiritual leader of the Sephardic Jewish community in the wealthy Monmouth County suburb of Deal, took to his pulpit on Saturday to cite the Talmudic Law of Moser that prohibits a Jew from informing on another Jew to a non-Jew.  Rabbi Dwek then renounced his son, Solomon Dwek, the failed real estate developer whose 2006 indictment on bank fraud charges motivated him to cooperate with federal prosecutors in a sting operation that led to the arrests of 44 individuals on Thursday.  The group included three mayors, two state legislators, a multitude of local officials, and several Rabbis.  As explained to PolitickerNJ.com, Rabbi Dwek will sit Shiva for Solomon Dwek, observing the Jewish custom of mourning for an immediate family member who has died.

Are You Kidding Me?

Anything in there about fellow Rabbi's stealing, extorting and illegally selling body parts, Rabbi?

Are you kidding me????

oy vay

smearing and sitting shiva and hindu namaste chanting.

what's next?

Enough

why is this even being posted?

Fredo, you're dead to me - and this time I mean it

Did he denounce him for $50M in attempted fraud? or did he get a pass on that one?

In other news, the town of Deal is proposing a name change to "SuchaDeal".

the problem with religion

when religious law supposedly supercedes real world non-imaginary law we have a big problem...

we condemn the elder rabbi dwek

shame goes to the elder rabbi dwek for condemning his son. praise to the son who exposed wrongdoing that was rotting the essential institutions of orthodox judaism, even if his motives were self serving. others should take note - if you have evidence of crimes in any community - take the evidence to law enforcement. do not sit idly by while the crooks ruin your world.

"Why is this even being posted"?

Under the subject line "Enough," Clarkvip1 asked on 07/27/09 at 10:41 am, "Why is this even being posted?" This is a strange question. Don't you think it's newsworthy, Mr Clarkvip1? Let's try a little thought experiment: suppose an Irish or Italian parish priest disowned his son from the pulpit for informing on the rackets. Would you consider that to be newsworthy?

Why is even being posted? Rowan Berkeley

Seeing that an Irish and Italian priest would not be married the analogy is not correct.
And what exactly is your point, Mr. Berkeley?

Rival gangs?

"Talmudic Law of Moser that prohibits a Jew from informing on another Jew to a non-Jew. "

Do the other Abrahamic religions, Christianity or Islam, have any
similar laws in their scriptures? A "snitch law" implies keeping secrets
and secrets seem like a curious commandment for a congregation with a claim to extra moral rectitude due to orthodoxy. Do the Syrian and Lubavitscher boychicks in NJ carry guns? How do they protect their laundered millions from theft by rival gangs?
