Pinkett expected to drop from LG competition tomorrow

Reality TV star Randal Pinkett will hold a news conference tomorrow to make "an official statement regarding the speculative reports on the lieutenant governor position."  It is expected that the business executive and Rhodes Scholar, the winner of Donald Trump's Apprentice competition, will announce that he will not be a candidate for public office this year.  If Pinkett was Gov. Jon Corzine's pick, he would not be addressing the media on his own.

Democratic sources say that Pinkett was Corzine's first choice before key party leaders strongly opposed the idea.

Hold Me Accountable

Make a pick and go with it - floating a trail ballon to appease to Dem leaders - if you think this guy was the best for the NJ taxpayer you should be more concered with them.

ashcroft, gonzalez, mukasey, goodling,sampson,rove.....

Wells, Buono, PC Clerk Karen Brown....Three strong, intelligent, and well versed on the issues women.

Omg this so pathetic

This shows embarassing the Corzine misadministration is!

Are you embarrassed yet "Timid Jon"????

Truth is truly stranger than fiction with Jon Corzine. It's awful that he has put Pinkett in this position. Corzines lack of "testosterone" puts his friends/allies in the most unenviable positions. Corzine is NO LEADER...just a rich guy who bought a couple of elections.

So when will Weinberg get her call??

We are running out of time. It has got to be Loretta Weinberg for a zillion reasons. Everyone knows why. We want to win in November and she is the only one who can deliver Bergen County...if it is deliverable, she will make it happen. But time is running out.

two people come to mind now:

two people come to mind now: Caroline Kennedy and David Patterson

I agree with Reagan conservative

This does not look like the Wall Street Jon Corzine. Thsi looks like Jim McGreevey aka David patterson being led by John Lynch or that South Jersey guy.

ok then...

With Pinkett no longer in the running, there is no reason why Corzine shouldn't select Chris Christie for the LG spot.

Two NJ liberals. Perfect together.

Is this clown kidding me?

What person holds a press conference when they don't get picked? What possible news worthiness will come out of this other than a shameless press hound looking to milk his second 15 minute of fame? This is beyond pathetic. Vote Column "A"- All the way!

Corzine is becoming a punchline

This was amateur hour. And the longer he drags out this courtship ritual, the more he becomes an object of ridicule. Just take Weinberg and get it over with.

Snake Pliskin?  I heard you were dead.

This is very unfair. This

This is very unfair. This guys business qualifications are unmatched. And he was railroaded because he went on the Apprentice and competed against people whose qualifications are probably much better than either of the 2 major candidates.

Some of these hypocrites claim to want a qualified outsider with no political experience so not be influenced but when he comes around, they do a hatchet job on them.

These people (the Dem establishment who felt slighted) would have been the same people supporting Corzine for Senate years ago when he had no political experience but they lauded his business credentials.

And the GOP who attacked him would have been the same people who supported Forrester because he was a businessman with no true political experience.

So right ...

NJ Politics 2008 is so right.

Pinkett would be a great LG. Seems like the democratic old guard really didn't want a new face. What's up with that?

This is a shame.

This is really unfair to Mr. Pinkett. He never asked for any of this. It was ridiculous for Corzine to even have thought about asking this man. He was so clearly a "Hail Mary pass".

If Pinkett bows out it is trouble for the Democrats ...

If Pinkett bows out there is probably big trouble in the Democratic Party!

Two article to considers:

1. Today's response to the Star Ledger Editorial from last week. "More to Randal Pinkett than The Apprentice" -- Wednesday morning's Star Ledger or on-line.

2. Huffington Post Article -- "Why the Apprentice Candidate Shouldn't Quit"

I don't know this JRB guy but he makes a lot of sense. And so do the folks on Blue Jersey.

This is what I've been waiting to see. What took so long for some people to see how good this guy could be to energize the electorate. The only reason that Pinkett is reportedly off of the list is because the political elites and party bosses didn't want a new face. But, obviously there are some big names behind Pinkett if you read the Star Ledger piece. Corzine's Campaign will have a problem with them because of how this Pinkett thing was handled.

I hope Pinkett doesn't bow out today -- and I hope Corzine finds the leak in his campaign who has been sending up the "trial balloons". That person(s) has lost the campaign for Democrats because they didn't give Pinkett the respect he deserved.

Ron Rice and Company should be ashamed of themselves

They all sent their kids to the best schools exactly so that when presented with these opportunities they would have their support and advocacy. Instead we have a bunch of old BLACK and WHITE MEN saying, hold it, he's not ONE of US. That's right. Its a pardigm shift, not unlike Obama and they can't handle it. Would it be better if he was one of them. As Palin says, YOU BETCHA! Well watch out you old idiots, you'll have a lot of time to nurse your wounds when Christie wont take your calls as GOVERNOR!!! Idiots ALL!
