Corzine says his internal polls have him down 4 points

On a conference call with campaigns supporters, Gov. Jon Corzine and his campaign strategist, Steve DeMicco, said their internal poll has Republican Christopher Christie ahead by four percentage points, 42%-38%, with independent Christopher Daggett at 4%.  In a two-way race, Corzine and DeMicco said Christie's lead widens to six points.

Recent independent polls conducted by Rasmussen Reports and Quinnipiac University have Christie ahead by eight and six points, respectively. A Republican Governors Association poll released today has Christie leading Corzine by fifteen points.

The poll was conducted before Corzine's latest wave of TV ads, which attack Christie on ethics.  Sources say the buy was more than $750,000.

Won't Matter

Christie won't lose on ethics. In fact, those kinds of ads will turn off voters from the bumbling incumbent more. With the Obama administration on the defensive, Corzine's dim re-election chances continue to dim.

what is the margin of error?

if it is =/- 4....CC lead could be as high as 8. Is that possible?

I don't necessarily believe

I don't necessarily believe that Christie is ahead by fifteen, but I know I don't beleive Corzine's polling data. Not to mention that a fifteen point lead is more in sync with what most polls have shown for Christie.

Are they for real?

Maybe it's me, but an incumbent polling at 38% is "good news for them"???? Even if their numbers are true---they are embarrassing. Corzine has spent 110 million on his first two elections---already dumped 5-6 million on this race, has a 98% name id and he still only polls at 38% !!!! This is great news for anyone that wants change in NJ. Possibly, just possibly the citizens of this state have finally grown tired of Corzines politics of personal destruction. It is time for us to take our state back. Chris Christie for Governor....

Corzine needs a real three-way race to win.

The issue isn't how far he's behind, the issue is who's left to persuade? The undecideds are practically in the single digits. That means Corzine can't win. The only dynamic is to drive-up Christie's negatives to a point that Republicans and independents vote for Daggett and thus giving Corzine the possibility of winning with 40% of the vote. It's Minnesota all over again, but no top-of the-ticket bump for Corzine (Franken had Obama). Vote Column "A" - All the way!

SWITCHAROO PART 2?

Is Codey warming up in the bull pen for the September switch? You heard it here first......

ROTFLMAO!!!!

nuff said!!!

The Problem with Internal Polls

Internal polls are not available for scrutiny as to:

1) How was it conducted?

2) Order and nature of questions?

3) Sample selection? i. e. Mommouth County or Camden County?  Registered Voters or Phone numers?  If Registered Voters, breakdown of Republican, Democrat, Independent and Undeclared.

4) All the result with breakdowns need be published.

If Corzine would publish the results including the methods as missing from article, we can accept or reject.

Christie squanders lead

Christie doesn't have to lose *on* ethics, but he has lost ethics as any kind of an advantage, scoop.

What he will ultimately lose on is registration, money, organization, too-conservative philosophy as forced by Lonegan during the primary, and the self-neutralization of issues like ethics.
