Booker will back Weinberg for LG

In what could be the second most important endorsement of the race for the Democratic Lt. Governor nomination, Newark Mayor Cory Booker is set to endorse State Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck), according to a high ranking Democratic source.  Booker's endorsement sends a signal that African American Democratic leaders will support a white woman, obviating any chance of a backlash for Gov. Jon Corzine. Weinberg, a 72-year-old State Senator from Bergen County, has received considerable consideration to become Corzine's running mate in recent weeks.

Booker speaks for Booker

Bookers early decision to make a choice for LG is interesting. Fortunately, he does not speak for the African American Democrat or the combined electorate which will make the difference in this election. Maybe next year...possibly.

Of course he does

The last thing he wants out of a Corzine LG is someone who would threaten a run by him in 2013. Booker is one of the great self promoters of all time. Newark is no better in his tenure.

Pretty Cynical

Given the very high liklihood that Gov. Corzine will not finish his term, Larretta Weinberg as governor would be a very high price for NJ taxpayers to pay just so Gov. Corzine might be able to solidfy his base in Bergen County.

She would be a disaster as governor, a total disaster.

So, Booker, if he doesn't follow in the path of all of his "reforme" predecessors and get corrupted, will be able to run for Governor in 2013.

This is an unmitigated disaster.

Corzine should draw from the ranks of the congressional delegation and look to Bill Pascrell or Rob Andrews if he really care a wit about NJ.

Makes Sense

BOOKER IS ORIGINALLY FROM BERGEN COUNTY, WHY WOULDN'T HE BACK A FELLOW DEMOCRAT FROM HIS HOME COUNTY. ANYONE WHO BELIEVES HE IS LOYAL TO ESSEX COUNTY, NEWARK OR ANY OF THE CONSTITUENTS HE SERVES, TALK TO THE MID-LEVEL CIVIL SERVANTS HE HAS LAID OFF AND REPLACED WITH BIG MONEY, LARGE LEGAL AND CONSULTING FIRMS TO DO THEIR JOBS FOR A FEW MILLION DOLLARS PER CONTRACT .

MS. WEINBERG, AN INDEPENDENT FREE THINKER I'M SURE, MUST BE THE FAVORITE OF STEVE ADUBATO BOOKER'S NEW FOUND POLITICAL "GODFATHER" AND A POLITICAL FRIEND TO THE BERGEN COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY BY WAY OF HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH FORMER PARTY BOSS FERRIERO. BECAUSE SURELY BOOKER'S ENDORSEMENT HAS ONLY MADE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR THE GOVERNOR TO GET ELECTED IN THE SOUTH AND WEST WARDS OF NEWARK.

OH, THESE ARE THE HEAVILY POPULATED AFRICAN AMERICAN WARDS IN THE CITY. SO IT MAKES SENSE HE DIDN'T THINK OF A UNIQUELY QUALIFIED AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN TO BE LT. GOVERNOR. BONNIE WATSON COLEMAN, NINA MITCHELL-WELLS, JEANINE LARUE, JUST TO NAME A FEW. BUT THEN THESE WOMEN WOULD MAKE IT MORE DIFFICULT FOR HIM TO BE THIS STATES 1ST AFRICAN AMERICAN GOVERNOR. SO CLEARLY HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT NEWARK OR NEW JERSEY, JUST HIMSELF.

BUT, HE WILL STILL HAVE TO REMAIN UNSCATHED BY THE CORRUPT POLICIES OF HIS ADMINISTRATION. "DO AS BOOKER SAYS, NOT AS BOOKER DOES." I HOPE NEW JERSEY DOESN'T FALL VICTIM TO THE BOOKER HYPE LIKE NEWARK DID.

OH, BY THE WAY, WHERE IS PABLO FONSECA AND JERMAINE JAMES?
