Fulop won't run for Mayor

Steve Fulop won't run for Mayor of Jersey City next year. Instead, he'll seek re-election to the City Council.

Jersey City Councilman Steven Fulop has decided against a bid for Mayor of Jersey City in 2009, according to sources close to the reform Democrat.  Louis Manzo, a former Assemblyman and Hudson County Freeholder who has made four unsuccessful bids for Mayor, is expected to enter the race to unseat Jerramiah Healy.  The incumbent, the Hudson County Democratic Chairman and an early supporter of Barack Obama's campaign for the presidency, is viewed as the favorite to win re-election in the May non-partisan municipal race.

It's very heartening to see Patrick Fitzgerald on the case and presence on TV: he is a brilliant US attorney, a fiercely proud and totally self made first generation Irish American (his father was a senior doorman...) and a stand up guy who is brimming with character, integrity, courage, spirited energy, rigorous intelligence, American idealism and enthusiasm...

When the kids are in the room you can actually point to US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald on the TV screen or on the front page of the newspaper and tell them his story: who he is, how he earns a living, what he really and truly stands for...
is working on and doing with his life.
