U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie is resigning on December 1, 2008 and is mulling a bid for the Republican nomination for Governor

U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie, who announced today that he will resign on December 1, is expected to go on the Republican rubber chicken circuit almost immediately.  Republican insiders with ties to Christie's fledgling campaign for the 2009 Republican gubernatorial nomination say the outgoing federal prosecutor will begin attending Republican holiday parties in December, and will be interviewing campaign staff.  Christie is not expected to join a private law firm (although he could return to Dughi & Hewitt, where he was a partner prior to 2002), as most outgoing U.S. Attorneys do.
