It's that old 'do as I say, not as I do' trick

Jennifer Borg, who runs the legal department at The Record and is part of the family that owns the newspaper, continues to decline comment on the state probe of reporter Jeff Pillets, who allegedly removed state documents from the Department of Environmental Protection.  There is speculation that The Record and Pillets has retained a criminal defense attorney -- if the reporter is charged with stealing public documents, he could face time in prison -- but Borg, Pillets and his editor have not responded to numerous inquiries.  It's been a week since Pillets filed a story.

Hey Wally

What's your problem with real investigative journalists like Pillets?

He took down EnCap and all the hacks are ganging up on him now!

You seem intent in turning The Record into The Jersey Journal where politicos get a free ride!

Pillets

Wally is right. Just because Pillets did a good job on EnCap doesn't mean he gets to steal files. It's just like all these people who said the good things Sharpe James did as mayor should help get him a lighter sentence.

Hey, can you imagine what would happen if a legislator took something that didn't belong to them and then everyone just refused to comment???

Does Kushner Cos have interest in Encap Properties?

Do the Kushner companies have any interest in the EnCap properties? Did the Kushner companies have the rights to build any of the units up there? I believe they did, but not sure, can you address this politicsnj.com? If Kushner Companies have any interests int he Encap properties or development rights up there, please disclose that. Buehler? Buehler?

He didn't steal anything.

You have an agenda and part of that agenda is to question good people like Pillets who turned the "hack" world upside down when EnCap came crashing to a halt.

Pillets is being railroaded

Wally Edge and Politickernj.com: You and this website are a front for Kushner. Give it up. If there's anyone with something to hide, it's not Pillets, it's this excuse for "journalism". First you give Torricelli, a disgraced political hack if ever there was one, a forum and now try to drum up sentiment against The Record and a Pulitzer runner-up. I am now deleting you from my "favorites" and don't intend to ever refer anyone to anything you post anymore.

still waiting for answer... ho hum

So do the Kushner Cos have any interests in the Encap properties or the dramatic increases in zoning that Susan Bass Levin approved as a McGreevey/Corzine ho at the Meadowlands Commission? Buehler? Buehler? Drop the Pillets thing.

Pillets is not telling the truth.

The story that the swipe was inadvertent simply does not hold up to scrutiny. This was not Sandy Berger stuffing a single sheet of paper on his person. This was entire files, if I read the reports correctly.

And even if it did hold water, the story still does not exonerate criminal behavior.

Neither does good reporting, no matter how meritorious. Let him try and use it to convince the judge for leniency.

Common.

It must be nice being a shill for politically connected developers & lawyers who made a mess of the Meadowlands.

Criminal behavior?

Are you kidding me?

I hope to God Christie is investigating the whole EnCap saga. Let's see if there was any "criminal behavior" as it relates to that fiasco!

What a crock.

The suggestion that someone should be above the law because of something good he's done.

Give us all a break.

Thanks for confirming your "hack" status.

Bailing water for EnCap and others must be wonderful work...

What's the crime here?

Can you explain that to all of us?
