Bayonne candidates avoiding Obama

Bayonne is a strongly Democratic city that hasn't backed a Republican since Thomas Kean in 1985.  Still, the major contenders in a non-partisan special election for Mayor this November -- all Democrats -- have internal polling that has caused them to avoid links to the Democratic candidate for President, Barack Obama.  Some Bayonne Democrats -- at least before the recent financial crisis -- have suggested that Republican John McCain could do well in this very blue collar municipality, where John Kerry beat George W. Bush 57%-43% in 2004.

????

This story feel borderline racist...I've gotten off mistakenly in Bayonne on my way to Jersey City a couple times and it reminds me of the old industrial blue collar city from the movie "on the waterfront." How can a city that wanted to elect a dope like Kerry, not want to elect a change agent like Obama. Has Bill Clinton been there lately to speak on McCain's behalf???

Obama no agent of change!

It is simple. Obama is no agent of change. Everybody can see it, especially if you are blue collar working taxpayer. No help from Obama here.

Clifton Bloomfield the list goes on of Dem towns that will vote for McCain

I don't know how

anyone in their right mind could put Governor Palin a hearbeat away from the Presidency. I has been semi-supportive of her. Being a woman I know the uphill climb what it must feel like being int he male dominated political arena, but after that Katie Couric interview I joined the Republican pundits calling for her to step down. She's media trained so its not that thw woman was "nervous" about being on camera or even confused on the subject. the questions were the most likely to be asked of her and she still was unprepared. Palin looked partly confused and partly surprised. Couric had to fill in her answers a couple times and the other times you just had no idea what she was talking about. Its been reported that McCain takes 10 pills a day. He's not a 100 percent. I'd give him 755 ona good day. This woman in the White House when we are experiencing the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes should make everyone in these towns very very very nervous. Nervous enough to hold their noses and cover their eyes and vote for Obama.
