Senate Vote Tally on Campaign Finance Reform

No matter what people are saying publicly, Gov. Jon Corzine does not yet have 21 votes to get his anti-wheeling campaign finance reform package through the New Jersey State Senate.  Based on discussions with people who count votes in the State Senate, here's the PolitickerNJ.com head count -- which can and will change frequently.  We'll update this list often.

Among Democrats, consider cross pressures from four sources: Corzine, Senate President Richard Codey, the South Jersey Democratic machine, and the editorial boards that still seem to influence the people who get special license plates.  Look for State Sen. Raymond Lesniak, who influences a large block of Senators, to be the secret sauce when it comes to the success or failure of this measure.

On the Republican side, Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore, is a key player.
