Is Obama taking New Jersey for granted?
By Wally EdgeA new Quinnipiac University poll showing Barack Obama's lead in New Jersey down to three percentage points, and a word of caution from Democratic State Chairman Joseph Cryan that Democrats "have much work to do to be sucessful in November" hasn't stopped the Obama campaign from seeking to export New Jersey volunteers to Pennsylvania -- widely viewed as one of the most politically competitive states of the 2008 presidential election.
In an e-mail, Obama deputy campaign manager Steve Hildrebrand says: "You you live right next door to a state that is once again shaping up to be a crucial general election battleground -- Pennsylvania. And Obama supporters from across the northeast are going to be crucial to putting us over the top in the Keystone State.That's why we're organizing teams of supporters to come to Pennsylvania for Drive for Change weekend canvasses."
