  • September 2004: George W. Bush 48%, John Kerry 48% (Quinnipiac) Actual: Kerry 53%, Bush 46%
  • September 2000: Al Gore 50%, George W. Bush 36%  (Quinnipiac) Actual: Gore 56%, Bush 40%
  • September 1996: Bill Clinton 57%, Bob Dole 29%, Ross Perot 6% (Eagleton) Actual: Clinton 54%, Dole 36%, Perot 9%
  • September 1992: Bill Clinton 51%, George H.W. Bush 41% (Eagleton) Actual: Clinton 43%, Bush 41%
  • September 1988: George H.W. Bush 48%, Michael Dukakis 41% (Eagleton) Actual: Bush 56%, Dukakis 42%
  • August 1984: Ronald Reagan 55%, Walter Mondale 32% (Eagleton) Actual: Reagan 60%, Mondale 39%
  • September 1980: Ronald Reagan 44%, Jimmy Carter 40% (Eagleton) Actual: Reagan 52%, Carter 39%, Anderson 8%
