GOP poll shows Myers lead over Adler

Republican Christopher Myers has a 33%-29% lead over Democrat John Adler in the race for Jim Saxton’s third district House seat, according to a poll paid for by the Myers campaign and the National Republican Congressional Committee.  The survey, conducted by McLaughlin Associates, a GOP polling firm, shows Myers leading 36%-21% in the Ocean County portion of the district, which also includes parts of Burlington County and Cherry Hill in Camden County.

John McCain
has a three point lead over Barack Obama in District 3, 45%-42%, according to Chris Russell, Myers’ campaign manager.

Desperate

Myers must really be desperate. What camapign releases an internal poll like this? It is flawed in so many respects:

1) It is a sample of 300 people with a margin of error of 5.7%. It ain't worth the paper it is written on. If the dems wanted to spin it, they would call it a statistically dead heat.

2) Where are the other numbers? Myers must be getting clobbered in Burlington County if the memo doesn't even mention it. (Myers drops 3 points and Adler gains 8 from Cherry Hill and Burlington County). How can possibly Myers win if he can't even win his home county?

3) Myers should be leading by a whole bunch more in Ocean. It should be closer to 25 points.

Bottom line - shut the lights out, the Myers campaign is officially closed.

Good points

There's also the small fact that 38% of the people polled were undecided, which makes this poll completely useless.

McLaughin' all the way to the bank with GOP money

Who can say for sure this poll was even taken in this year and with Myers and Adler the candidates mentioned in the poll. "What? Myers wants to know where the poll he paid for is? Quick! dust this one off from 1999 and write his name in it. And tell him this year it is all about corruption."

Myers

will be laughing all the way to Congress in November. With the new surge by McCain and Palin, Adler and other dems have lost their mojo.

Bush

I think Bush will be all Myers needs to lose this race. I think everyone in NJ-3 is looking forward to that visit.

More laughs

You guys and gals are funny. First, it is normal for polls to be released Demcorrupt. Adler did not release his poll because it shows him with the same results and cause some folks to get fired. But I will agree with BurlCoBlue. It is a partisan poll and should not be looked at as usefull overall - except to raise funds. He wins the debate and is leading in his poll. Must be making High Street a more place to work.

An increasing number of "professional political analysts" are placing this race (along with CD 7) in the "leans Dem" category...so any favorable poll (even a very unscientific one) by the GOP candidates in either of those races helps. But I still  bet that the NRCC has bailed on both races. Also as some of the other posters have stated, Ocean County should should be showing an even wider margin. As far as I'm aware the Ocean County towns in this district are just as red as the ones in CD 4.

Charlie Cook - Toss up
Congressional Quarterly - Toss up
Stuart Rothenberg - Toss up.

Think it is cleared up. Again, feel free to believe the NRCC has bailed on these races. After the debate in which clearly Chris not only beat the prediction of a babbling, sweaty mess and mopped the floor with Adler, the tide is turning. Thank you to all of those "insiders" who said Chris would bomb at the debate. Much like the Bush-Gore debate you guys actually set the bar so low, any thing would have been a good showing. However, Chris hit a home run at the event and came out on top. Brilliant work folks.

Huh?

I'm still pretty sure only one person stood up to cheer for Myers's closing statement while 150 out of 200 stood up for Adler. I wouldn't exactly called that winning. The Asbury Park Press even said by the end more people were cheering for Adler.

Anyway, about a year ago, every one of those publications had this district as solid Republican or leaning Republican. Now it's a toss-up or leaning Democratic everywhere. No one has this district leaning Republican.

Start misrepresenting the facts the oc. Your partisanship is sickening and right out of the Karl Rove book of politics. Fortunately, you're nowhere near as good as he was.

And I still haven't seen the NRCC commit any funds. Don't you think they would have announced that by now, so that Myers could use it as a fundraising tool?

It's over.

Lying again are you?

Like the little boy who cried wolf, you don't know when to quit do you? The APP never wrote that and you obviously were not there or you'd know the truth. I fear you may know some ounce of truth but are neck deep in your own lies that you are drowning in your own crap. Anyway, I don't necessarily think that the NRCC not announcing right now that they are getting in - if they have not already - is a bad thing. The President coming in with provide a huge financial benefit. Like him or not, he is an awesome draw having raised hundreds of millions for the party. But keep calling it. Polls for both candidates show you are wrong. And your "they had it as a Republican seat a year ago" is as brain dead as you appear to be. Jim Saxton was still running then. Boy you get dumber as you get older.

the oc

For once, you are right. It was the Press of Atlantic City that said it.

Here you go:

"The crowd applauded both candidates, although as the debate went on, some cheers were mixed with boos. Adler started to receive more applause by the end" - Lee Procida, Press of Atlantic City, Sept. 11, 2008.

I stand by my other statement. A year ago every publication had it as solid Republican. Now it's not. John Adler has moved it into toss-up/leaning Democrat/likely Democrat territory.

Do you think Jim Saxton would have retired if John Adler hadn't run? Yeah, I didn't either. You can thank Bush's idiocy for that.

Face it, the NRCC's out. They could have made the announcement and held off on sending funds, just as a way to generate positive press for Myers. They didn't.

"Wolf! Wolf!"

Ah yes. IamaliberalDemocrat OC is yet again crying "wolf!". Haven't you figured it out that there are few people on this board who believe what you say? You have repeatedly lied to make your point. It would be amusing if it were not so sad regarding what you come up with next. You claim "one person" stood and cheered for Chris Myers. But you obviously were not there and you lied about it. Here is the quote from the Courior Post (9/11 by Bridget Smith): "Both men drew cheers for responses throughout the debate." Moreover you site a quote that does not exist. Nowhere on the Press of Atlantic City site which you quote from contains a comment stating that more people were cheering Adler than Myers. Give it up and stop lying. You are not good at it. And yes, Jim Saxton would have retired either way. He has cancer you idiot. Not to mention he has a condition which causes him severe pain every day. Maybe it will go away knowing he won't have to deal with lying pains in the asses like you anymore.
