Will Ferriero woes mean no third term for McNerney?

Some Democratic insiders suggest that one casualty of yesterday's indictments of Joseph Ferriero and Dennis Oury will be Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney, who has always been more popular with Ferriero than with local Democratic party leaders.  McNerney has two years left in his second term, and there's a good chance, sources say, that the post-Ferriero Bergen County Democratic Organization will seek a new candidate for County Executive in 2010.

Possible Democratic candidates to replace McNerney include: Sheriff Leo McGuire, Surrogate Michael Dressler, Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes, Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle, Dumont Mayor Matt McHale, Ridgewood Councilman Paul Aronoshn, and Little Ferry Councilman Tom Sarlo, the brother of State Sen. Paul Sarlo.

No Third Term

Dennis the Menace won't know what to do when the puppetmaster is gone. Time for someone new. I wonder if Aronsohn has his eyes on it?

McNerney definitely at risk.

None of the names above are not serious contenders for that slot.

Dennis is a tremendous vote-getter and could survive in a post Ferriero political environment.

Surrogate Dressler is a non-entity politically since he can't be partisan and there's no way Sarlo's brother is getting that post.

McHale won't happen and neither will Huttle, who no one trusts since she bit the hand that gave her a political career in Joe Ferriero!
