After Barack Obama joined Biden on the stage, he made his way over and shook hands with the junior Senator from New Jersey.

has there ever been a first-term Senator who felt as self-important as Bob Menendez?

Positioning.

This election is very close.

Menendez can help Obama in Florida with Cubans as well as Hispanics in several states. I think he wants to prove his versatility.

NJ may go Obama, but he'll need Hudson to put the guy from Cook County over the top.

Vote Column A - All the way!

Another embarrassment for NJ.

After being snubbed, Bob got a seat with the big bosses to make him feel important. Then Obama was called to this VIP box to shake hands with Kerry, Pelosi and others. And there he was, Bob pushing for a handshake. Obama almost missed him as did the TV cameras quickly moving to another image. It was the lifetime moment for Bob. Now, aren't Frank and Jon mad about it?

Bob M.

Should be courted better. He can deliever voting blocks. Furthermore, he is not simply a first term Senator. He was chair of the House Democratic Caucus, and is Vice Chair of the DSCC. That is to say he has been in leadership positions in Congress for most of his career. Hence, Bob is a "bigboy" and NJians should be proud to claim him, and the nation will continue to watch his career with interest. The busboy comments are offensive to Senator Menendez and hispanics alike.

Eight years ago...

Senator Obama failed to even get hold of a floor pass to the DNC and ended up watching from a big screen in the parking lot. This year, he is the democratic nominee for president. Who knows where menendez will be in 8 years?
