Annette Quijano will resign her post as Assistant Counsel to Gov. Jon Corzine to take her seat in the State Assembly. She won a special election convention last night to replace Neil Cohen in the 20th district. Quijano's election further reduces the number of minorities on the Governor's senior staff: he has not had an African American Deputy Chief of Staff since Jeanine LaRue left to take a job at Rutgers, and has not had a Latino Deputy Chief of Staff since Javier Inclan, who had replaced LaRue, resigned after testifying in the corruption trial of former Guttenberg Mayor David Della Donna.

how about he hires someone on his senior staff who is qualified for the job.

PC BS
No wonder our government is so dysfuncional. Our elected officials are more worried about what someones ethnicity is rather than finding the most qualified person. we are doomed with all this PC BS!
Why all the shuffling anyway?
Hey Wally instead of writing about feel good PC stories why don't you start looking into why all the shuffling in the first place. The Democrats are ethicaly challenged with their child porn Assemblyman and corruption challenged staff member
We do have affirmative action don't u know?
What about all the underqualified pencil shuffling WHITE GUYS we've been hiring for decades??? Puleaze I'd rather look at a woman-white black latina asian-whatever-than all you GUYS any day of the week!
THESE ARE SERIOUS TIMES
What we need in the Gov's office are the most qualified people. I don't care what race gender or background. Unfortunately, for my party, balance is more important than excellence and that's created a big problem. We should pick the most qualified person for places in leadership. If they all happpen to be white men, so be it. However, that said, we must take affirmative action to build a farm team so that the pool of the best of the best will eventually include all races, genders etc. But we must avoid saying that a specific position is only open to a certain race gender etc.
