What about Matty Rinaldo?
By Wally EdgeLeonard Lance has spent his entire life around the political arena: by the time he was born in 1952, his father, Wesley Lance, had already served as an Assemblyman and State Senator (he returned to the Senate for another two terms in 1953). Now that Lance is running for Congress, PolitickerNJ.com’s Matt Friedman asked him to name his all-time favorite Congressmen. Lance listed three: Charles Eaton, Robert Winthrop Kean, and Millicent Fenwick.
Eaton represented Somerset, Morris and Hunterdon counties in the House from 1925 to 1953, and served as Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. (When he retired, his open seat was filled by Peter Frelinghuysen, the father of Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, whose retirement in 1974 opened the seat up for Fenwick. Kean, the father of future Gov. Tom Kean, who represented parts of Essex and Union counties from 1939 to 1959.
Friedman asked Lance if Dick Zimmer was on that list: "Absolutely he's in there, but I’m speaking about people who are deceased." Then Lance begged off from giving more names, saying “this is going to get me in trouble.”
