I don't think it will make much of a difference with Paulie D and the support of 36 who comes out in full force compared to any other district and Gerry in 39 and Bobs 40 support - Yudin takes it hands down.

Why didn't Yudin bring this 'conflict' up weeks ago when the date was set?

Did you know the Yudin Team asked for Absentee Ballots for the Orthodox Community ONLY? They wanted NO ONE else to be eligible for the Absentees except someone of Orthodox faith - how is that inclusive??

Title 19 requires the re-org meeting be held within 1 weeks of primary. Are the Dem's changing their re-org date which is the same as the GOP? Maybe Loretta will try this move with Joe.  I'm sure it'll go over like a ton of bricks!

 And, I'm sure Bergen Dem and Gop organizations aren't the only ones throughout the state are holding their re-org on the same date - June 10th.

Maybe Wilson and Cryan should advise all organizations to change their re-org meetings.

Bob is way behind in his home district of 40 and is even going to lose his hometown of Wyckoff. That alone should tell the rest of the county committee everything they need to know.

As for 39, Sen. Cardinale's endorsement is offset by Assmblywn. Vandervalk and more than a dozen muni chairs who endorsed Ortiz. I also don't know what you're smoking in terms of 36 but i've seen a bunch of D36 people on Board for Ortiz and so far nada for Bob.  Even if the rumored Paul D thing happens, Ortiz's support runs much deeper.

 Seems like like your taking a page from the Sabrinista playbook. This is only fitting since a pro-yudin website apparently just launched and the domain is registered to the people behind the Sabrin campaign. What's next....shall we label Bob the frontrunner?

Why should anyone help? When Ortiz was running he wanted all the support of CC and then turned his back on them by not having a presidential line vote (Rudy went bust), supporting and recruiting other Senate candidates (Andy went bust) when Anne Estabrook (another bust) bowed out and Jersey Joe won the line and lastly trying to enact bylaw changes limiting the number of people on the policy committee. I don't see a lot of personal attacks against the chairman and for those saying we don't back anything up, did you miss any of the following things above? As far as Yudin in the primaries - Bob never took a side, he honored his commitment to the CC and stayed on the line (candidates and chairman come and go win and lose) - he never came out against the off line people and never embraced chairman Talarico’s actions - he stayed the course with the County Committee - maybe he should have been disingenuous like the others - 2 of the candidates spoke up but never left the line and the other said he wont run lower level candidates in a primary but did.

Where is a "CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN PARTY" member running for Chairman? Oh wait they are too busy losing primaries and throwing bombs like that and not helping with anything constructive regardless who you support for Chair.

Let’s use some of this energy to fight them Dems - even with subpoenas flying Ferrerio's slates won, we need to educate what I can only call stupid people of Bergen County who keep electing these Dem bums.

Where was Bob Yudin's ethnic moral compass when Guy Talarico attacked Kevin O'Toole for being Asian?

Quite the double standard when Mr. Yudin never made any noise when Guy ripped Asian Americans like O'Toole, but suddenly cares that Orthodox Jews are going to be unable to vote.  In fact, Yudin stuck by Talarico until the very end, something his new employee, Mr. Ajjan wrote in his blog over a year ago:

Of course this was before Mr. Ajjan did his complete 180 in politics and became the voice behind Sabrin's negative and divisive campaign to try and take out the Republican party.

Leave it up to Bob Yudin to employ Ajjan as his new spinster after George did a good job at alienating almost everybody in the NJ GOP.

Then again, this isn't shocking considering Mr. Yudin once advanced to primary challenge Assemblywoman Charlotte Vandervalk. Great idea, Bob, let's primary challenge the top vote getter in District 39. I live in district 39, nobody is more respected and liked than Assemblywoman Vandervalk.

As a Bergen County Republican who just happens to be Jewish, I find it offensive that Bob Yudin is using the religion we share to try and score political points. Granted, I am not orthodox though.

I support Chairman Robert Ortiz for re-election. I don't find him to be discriminatory at all and I am upset that he is being viewed that way by some people who would rather throw bombs then unite the party.

All you people calling for unity should check out the new press release issued by Bob Yudin. It is vile, inflammatory and completely inaccurate.

Posted by George Ajjan (who apparently feels he didn’t hemorrhage enough credibility in the Sabrin campaign), Yudin accuses BCRO chairman Rob Ortiz of snubbing orthodox jewish voters as to next week's reorganization meeting, knowing full well that it is not the case.

Although the press release suggests that Ortiz made a decision regarding the voting hours, Bob Yudin knows that this not true. This wasn’t an Ortiz decision or even a BCRO decision. As I noted earlier in this thread, this was a decision of the Election committee appointed under the BCRO bylaws. Yudin knows this because 2 people attended the meeting on his behalf. Neither Yudin nor Ortiz attended personally but rather appeared through surrogates. Ortiz sent one (not exactly minions); Yudin sent two. Each candidate had one vote on this committee. Thus, Ortiz had no more control over this decision than Yudin himself.

Not content to contort and misrepresent Ortiz’s record, Yudin, and his cohort Rich Miller, have decided to play the religion card…badly. You would think they would have learned after their mentor Guy Talarico sent out that heinous racist piece last year but apparently not.

What’s more, this meeting date is fixed by statute. Yudin has known the date for months. He also knows that It is patently unreasonable to extend voting until 10:30 but instead of raising the issue in a timely fashion so a sensible absentee protocol could have been fashioned, Bob waited until the 11th hour so he could shamelessly (and shamefully) posture. The simple truth is that we’re probably only talking about 20-30 potential votes out of 1100. It’s not the votes that Bob cares about. All he cares about is manufacturing another wedge issue. Whether it is true or whether it is fair matters not. Bob has been wholly unable to develop any reasons why people should vote for him, hence his only alternative is to convince people that they should vote against Ortiz.

Yudin also criticizes Ortiz for Andy Unanue’s Easter Sunday announcement as if Ortiz had anything to do with it. He also conveniently ignores that his new mouthpiece, Mr. Ajjan, made a barrage of phone calls for Murray Sabrin on Good Friday and Ascension Thursday to the dismay of observant Catholics. Moreover, although Bob Yudin purports to fight for the BCRO, he also conveniently forgets that Mr. Ajjan was the driving force behind an anti-BCRO freeholder slate this year and that he fiercely litigated to preserve that slate’s ability to challenge the freeholder slate chosen by the BCRO county committee. That competing slate was challenged and disqualified in an effort supported by Chairman Ortiz. Chairman Ortiz protected the BCRO slate. Bob has hired the people who tried to subvert it.

Yudin’s position in this matter is not only divisive, it is insultingly exploitative to people of all religions. It has no place in this Chairman’s race. It is the latest salvo in a relentlessly negative and personal campaign. Ask Bob how he could issue this release when he knows the decision was made not by Ortiz, but democratically by a distinct and independent committee composed of election officials and one representative from each candidate. Is this the tactic of a leader? Is this someone who would purport to unify the party?

Bob Yudin should be ashamed of himself.

 All Bergen County Republicans will be tainted by this foolish and costly mistake. Just because you could not give up a couple of hours.

This has nothing to do with being a lawyer but as a lawyer I can say that regardless of what you might think of the decision, the decision making process was proper and in accordance with the bylaws. I can also reiterate that regardless of what Bob Yudin would have you believe, Rob Ortiz had no more influence over this decision than Bob Yudin himself.

Read carefully: I never commented at all on the actual decision. My comment dealt solely with Bob Yudin’s disingenuous and reprehensible press release which portrayed this as a decision made by the Chairman when Bob knows full well that this was not the case. That is not spin. Bob purposefully misrepresented the facts in order to try and demonize Ortiz and, to a lesser extent, Focarino. That is not spin either. Because it is not true in the least, I chose to post the facts rather than let him get away with it. Please note that unlike Yudin’s press release, nothing in my comment is factually inaccurate

I am convinced that Bob was more interested in demagogue-ing this issue than in resolving it. He knew about this conflict for weeks yet didn’t raise it until 2 business days before the ballot. If Bob had issued a press release saying he was disappointed in the vote of the committee and wished it had done something more to be inclusive, I’d have nothing to criticize. The 2 days notice might still have represented a logistical challenge, but that kind of press release would have been a legitimate expression of an opinion. Bob didn’t say that though. He went to elaborate lengths to try to create and exploit a hot button issue and cast blame where none existed; all in a desperate attempt to create fear and loathing. His release is fundamentally dishonest, hypocritical and shamelessly exploitative.

I think the press release will actually do Bob more harm than good. I’ve already heard from numerous people of varied faiths who are offended and disgusted with Bob’s tactics. I also think it betrays an egregious lack of judgment that raises real questions about his suitability to be chair, questions which, candidly, I already had.

I wonder why, if the guy is so swell then we do not have to worry about his reelection. Yes, there are a few things about Ortiz that we better not say. Like Estabrook, Unanue, and Zimmer. Yes, he is part of the Back to the USSR Chairmen. There is Giuliani for President, a saviour of BCRO and NJ, who faded away faster then Florida's beach sand. In the meantime, our Back to the USSR Chairmen changed the rules of presidential primaries to benefit their candidate. Look where this took NJ. My guess is into a wilderness. Have we stayed with the traditional primary date, we could have been kings on the hill. And there is so much more that it could take a long time to just list them here. In conclusion, Ortiz just cannot make a right decision that would benefit all of us.

Stop sniping at each other. The issue is: An Orthodox Jewish County Committee person from Englewood approached Ortiz and asked that the hours of voting be extended because of the Jeish hoy day. Mr. Ortiz said he would get bacj to him, but he never did. Was he afraid to lose a handful or more of votes? Or is he just insensitive to this one ethnic group?

Just change whatever you have to change to meet the needs of the whole community. Period.

The agenda in Bergen County needs to be reform; radical reform.

Pay to play needs to be 100% banned, not just a little around the edges, but 100%.

If the only reason Republicans want to get elected is so they can take over the Ferierro racket; then why should people care?

It's all about patronage, contracts, cronyism and corrupt real estate development/bribery.....is there any one who wants to run for public office to actually serve the best interests of others?

What people need in local governance is competency, honesty and compassion; I don't really understand how there is a Republican or Democratic way to achieve those ends at the local/county levels?

Maybe Bergen County just needs a single REFORM party.....and "a pox" on both the R's and the D's?

This year Bob Yudin criticizes Ortiz when county convention selection is honored and never questioned. Regardless of whether you think Ortiz should have been involved in statewide effort to ID another potential candidate, the county committee choice was never questioned.  Joe P always had the line.

Last year, cat's got Bob Yudin's tongue when Talarico absolutely hijacks candidate selection process and REFUSES to allow county committee to exercise its right to select candidate. Why? Because Yudin is terrified that if he bucks Guy, he will lose BCRO line in freeholder primary. County committee gets the shaft; Bob Yudin looks out for himself.

As to Mr. Yudin's petition, I was not challenging the signatures  but who witnessed them. Unfortunately the other two challengers never showed at the meeting and the attorney representing myself felt it was better to drop challenge. In the future, you want to call me out, USE YOUR REAL NAME. At least show you have that much testicular fortitude.
