Myers can't win without Gilmore

Is Gilmore nuts?

I got a ton of anti-Myers poorly done junk mail sent to my house.

Ocean County ran the most negative ads, and made a poor decision by putting a Freeholder on the ballot.

By definition, Freeholders are corrupt.

Kelly got less than 50% of the vote in Ocean. Some organizational machine Gilmore's running there!

Perhaps the headline should be amended to say that “Myers can’t win.” Period. Adler is a smarter, more talented candidate, has nearly a 4-1 cash advantage, if not more, has already been on the ground for months talking to voters in district 3, the district now has more Democrats than Republicans, and Obama’s at the top of the ticket. And that’s not even counting the thrashing Myers will get handed in any debate and the strong endorsements Adler has received.

A few points to consider: 1.) Gilmore has been exposed. He does not know how to run competitive elections. In Ocean County his team wins by accident every year. This race proves it. The TROCs running against Gilmore's county slate racked up the vote and nearly beat his candidates. When faced with a credible campaign challenge, Gilmore almost blew it. Gilmore isn't successful in Ocean County because he is some political geniuous - it's because of all those old registered republicans down there. He's a fraud. 2.) Kelly ran a highly negative campaign against Myers - infact he went negative first. 3.) Gilmore never should have put his buddy Kelly up for Congress. He was a flawed candidate with a ton of baggage and he knew it. 4.) Gilmore really has bigger problems to worry about than fighting Chris Myers. His county candidates only won their primary battles by 1,500 votes - Gilmore only did 1 piece of mail in support of his county ticket. Where did the rest of his money go? 5.) Gilmore uses Ocean County to profit personally. He then shakes down county vendors for contributions but instead of spending that money to help his county he uses it to make himself a player with people like Rudy or McCain. What a fraud. Gilmore ought to be more focused on fixing the deep problems he has with his own base in Ocean County. Next year his county slate could lose a primary.

If he turns his back on Myers, then his days as chair are numbered.

The VOTERS of OC will not want a Dem to win simply because Boss Gilmore got his feelings hurt.

Myers wins in November with or without Gilmore - just like the primary. It would do Gilmore and the team good if he joined in.

If not, F him and watch the the Wizard of OZ get exposed.

After Tuesday's election, Gilmore will be more of an albatross than a benefit to Myers. Gilmore used the Asbury Park Press article this morning to criticize Myers and to come out against "negative personal attacks"; which is like Bill Clinton coming out against philandering. Gilmore's MO is to use campaign funds (recycled taxpayers money) to smear the reputations of critics whose crime is drawing attention to his appalling greed and his self-serving corruption of the political process. Gilmore's idea of "lying" is somebody exposing one of his raids on the public treasury like the $5.3 million he, Carl Block (County Clerk) and Kelly manipulated out of the South Jersey Transportation Authority. Or pretending for 8 years that he and Block had nothing to do with doubling the tolls ($1 to $2) on the Atlantic City Expressway. Kelly's career has been as an errand boy for Gilmore. About 5000 of the votes Vicari and Block got (for freeholder and clerk) are connected with patronage from the political machine. It's clear now that the vast majority of traditional Republicans are fed up with being cheated and conned by Gilmore and his greedy machine; and it's only a matter of time before the voters throw them all out of office. If Myers wants to be one of the losers, it is a free country, but the election makes Gilmore a huge potential liability.

County organizational strength is in the nominating process, not general elections. Unless Gilmore wants to feed his enemies more ammunition, he won't do anything to hurt Myers in the fall.

The urban machines win big margins not because they are effective, but because the Republicans are so impotent there. It's a mistake to think that Gilmore can deliver any more votes in November if he works as if he doesn't work. And if he doesn't work his own local candidates then become at risk. His threat is hot air.

Think about it. The man could only deliver 48% for Zimmer and 44% for Kelly. In this case it's awfully foolish to issue a threat when you can't really back it up.

I am so glad you have returned to folly here and entertain us! All of your retoric is really bunk because you have not been RIGHT about the Dems winning a local election in years! Martin, you fail horribly to realize that Adler has the problem NOT Myers. Adler will most likey take Cherry Hill, but not by much and that is the ONLY Camden he has to enjoy. See Martin, many many employess and familes of Lockheed live and work in Cherry Hill. Adler will NOT win OC because Saxton's pockets of supporters will not swtich. And, burlco will go Myers way. Martin, why dont you comment on potential races you may know about like in your town?

We know Myers wont win Cherry Hill, but like Saxton a few years ago running against Susan Levin, He will take a chunk. It will not be a blow out; remember, Saxton lost Cherry Hill by less than 2,000 which is not a lot. Of course, OC and Burlco pulled him through which will happen for Myers

Now that we a realize that Chris Myers is NOT a politician, he should still engage George Gilmore. While there are some of us who do not feel tremendous loyalty to our county chair due to his obvious missteps over the past few years (Rudy? Really? Why???) there are the party stalwarts who will go out and bust their butts for any candidate he leads to slaughter.

Therefore, if only to appease those hardworking members of the Ocean County Republican Organization, Chris Myers should be in conversation with George Gilmore. He doesn't have to kiss his ring, he doesn't have to bow before him, but he does have to recognize that this county was able to produce 50k more votes for GWB in 2004 than 2000 and that he could probably use a similar margin if he'd like to be sworn in as Congressman in January. Did George Gilmore get out those votes for GWB. NO WAY! But his hardworking organization, which is comprised of people who actually give a rat's patootie, walked and called their hearts out. That too could happen for Myers, but the healing process has to begin and it had better be soon. Otherwise that slick Adler will win and not because he has a clue, but because we as Republicans will have handed it to him on a silver platter.

Oh Alice, I know you like having boys chase you around, but don't flatter yourself. I'm not interested. And speaking of hacks, you can't even elevate to that term. However, if you were to stop short, you would enter Rick Perr's posterior instantly and end up kissing Dennison square in the mouth. Keep bringing up one town. We will get Delran back. However, I noticed you failed to mention any of the towns that switched from the D column to the R side. Selective memory? Finally, STOP LYING! Never, ever did I say anything about stem cell research. EVER! You continually make up stories, like Chicken Little, to make a point despite the fact that the stories are completely FALSE! As for your knowledge of the NRCC, it is not based on facts either. Please don't worry about the NRCC. They will be involved. Lastly, your insistence that Alder will crush Myers in a debate and that pundits who have never been to NJ let alone the 3rd District have said it is a lean Dem make me laugh. Seems to me Congresswoman Levin was supposed to crush Saxton in their debates and the same pundits called this a lean Dem - and I believe one of them called it a "likely" Dem pick up. How is Susan's congressional career going? Stop eating Rabbit's funny mushrooms. And give yourself some distance behind Rick. He may stop short on purpose to see if you are not day dreaming.

As for Citizen SJ - thank you, too, for the laugh. Chris will have no problem raising needed cash. Now that the primary is over, the defense community will be eager to assist him and make sure that the anti-defense and anti-vets candidate, John Alder, will not win. They will pump plenty of dollars into the race. And for you to say that CH hated SBL is ridiculous. They had just voted her in to a 3rd or 4th term the previous year by overwhelming margins. Yet she only captured 54 or 56% of the vote there. Taking Alice's revisionist history classes?

And don't worry about the endorsement issue. It WILL come out. Whether it comes out in a June, July or late October, it will come out. And not necessarily from the Myers campaign. There are plenty of independent folks eager to blast Adler. And they will.

I think you people have it wrong, its not whether Adler is will win CH by a large number (which he will), but the question is, is Myers going to win Medford? The abysmal numbers from Mayor Myers own hometown should tell you something he is in a bit of trouble.

If Lobbyist Myers gets his lobbyist friends to fund his campaign he could have some cash, but I doubt it. No one is giving to a struggling campaign who raised a horrid 42K in the last quarter, and who misses 25% percent of township council meetings when he goes and meets his lobbyist friends in Washington, DC for late night drinks about how to spend more of the taxpayers hard earned money. Ugh ugh, Mayor Myers "reporting on the thing" says he makes $350K a year, when he can raise more for his campaign then he makes makes for lavish job, come back to me, and we'll start talking seriously about this race.

Since when is winning by 20 points "barely" beating someone? And your belief that just because SBL had a "D" next to her name is the reason she continually won re-election by huge margins is laughable. Because if you think that Norcross and the Camden machine, who hated SBL, would not have put up a candidate to beat her if he could, then you are smoking something. But you can continue to drink Martian's Kool-Aid. And it was the same pundits Martian is touting who said SBL would take the seat from Saxton that I was commenting on - not you.

And Jerseyfresh - thanks for the laugh but please get your facts correct. Chris Myers is not a lobbyist. Check the facts with the US Senate. He is not nor has ever registered as a lobbyist. And he did not raise $42k in the last quarter. He raised that amount in a little over a month from April to May which is required by law. Get your facts straight. And again, I will direct you to the FEC website. He raised nearly $400k. So here I am coming back to you big mouth. Add that total to what Kelly raised and Saxton raised in the same period and you will see that nearly $1 million was raised. Very competitive to me. Moreover, how do you know what Chris is doing late nights? Stalking him? You are privy to his schedule? Get a clue. Talk about something you know - oh wait. You don't know jack, so why not make up stuff to puff your chest out, right?

I think Myers can and will win OC handidly!

The reason being is that Saxton has a lot of pull whether anyone wants to believe it or not, and that is where Adler is going to have a huge problem in OC.

Now, when push comes to shove, traditional GOP will back the GOP ticket - they would not ever vote for an Adler or any other Dem, but would back the party.

Burlco will be interesting to watch, but I have no doubts Myers will take Burlco at the end of the day.

Then your eyesight is worse than Helen Keller. Saxton has been very active in Chris' campaign, assisting him in meeting the needed people in DC and NJ. In fact, I heard from people in the OC that Saxton's annual lobster event is going to be taken over by Chris. The "truth" is that you obviously have no clue what you are talking about.

Chris Myers will NOT be taking it over, but nice try.
