The race for the Democratic U.S. Senate nomination continues to become more cantankerous with accusations today that Rep. Rob Andrews steered nearly $2.3 million in federal grants to Rutgers University Law School, where his wife, congressional candidate Camille Andrews, was a dean. The incumbent, Frank Lautenberg, contends that the earmark represents a conflict of interest.

OH PLEASE
This is silly. so is the issue of Frank's residency. Can we talk about jobs, gas prices, the health care crisis, the effect of Obama versus Clinton on the Dem chances of taking back the WH and setting us on a path towards some real change? I don't care about this silliness. It makes me tired and angry at both of these idiots.
earmarks, higher ed
Every New Jerseyan should be wary of the current anti-earmark climate in Washington, not because earmarks are good policy per se, but because that is how we recoup so much of our lost money from taxes sent to Washington versus taxes received from the federal government in return.
Rutgers deserves federal money, especially since state funds towards higher education has been shrinking in recent years, even this year in Corzine's proposed budget. This loss of funds means that colleges and universities have to raise their tuition and fees to have adequate money to pay for operations and that further adjuncts, rather than tenured faculty, are hired to teach courses.
Andrews has been a friend to higher ed here in South Jersey, particularly at Rowan, where I work. I argue as much about Andrews, over Lautenberg on higher ed., in the following video.

Lautenberg Slams Stack!
Where was Lautendiapers when his democrat colleagues in the State Legislature were shoveling money into their employers' pockets and their spouses' employers' pockets? Did he have anything at all to say about Coniglio? Bryant? Does Lautenberg condemn Stack for shoveling money into his wife's employers' pockets? That's what he is accusing Andrews of doing. He would be right to do so. Speak up you, doddering old fool. Have anything to say about Stack? Out with it son. Say it... say it... SAY IT! It's easy Frank... repeat after me. "Stack did just what my opponent did. He's every bit as bad" Come on Frank... you can do it... show you are not just some partisan piece of dust.
Martin - - -"Rutgers deserves federal money"??????
Why should Federal dollars be wasted on a paycheck for Andrews wife!
Nothing but waste, fraud, and abuse at Rutgers-Camden because of Norcross & Andrews.
Wow
Andrews accomplished an earmark for the place where his wife works. I'm not saying that this is bad-Rutgers Law School should get federal money, but it does sound funny considering that he finds this vote critical, unlike so many others, and that Rob found time to make it to the House to earmark this when he is out 70% of the time. Its great to know that Rob will work hard when his own interests, or his family checkbook are threatend. Maybe we should send Camile to Iraq so Rob can offer up his "comprehensive plan" to get us out.
Where is Frank on earmarks, may I ask?
Did Frank bring any bacon (I mean federal taxes) back to NJ? Last time I heard NJ was tha dead last state in this depart. Congratulations to Frank then, the deficit hawk just like McCain. On the other thought, it might be Frank being ineffective senator for over twenty years? It probably is the second.
Sad
Andrews steers money to NJ's State University! This is a new low Frank!
Back and forth, back and
Back and forth, back and forth. This is getting as good as the national primary
