Judy Shaw retires

Judy Shaw is retiring as a partner in one of Trenton's biggest lobbying firmsCiting health issues, Judy Shaw, a former Chief of Staff to Gov. Christine Todd Whitman and a partner in a major State Street lobbying firm, announced her retirement today.  She will remain with MBI GluckShaw as “of counsel” in the firm she started with Hazel Gluck.

Shaw underwent extensive back surgery in February and requires extensive rehabilitation. She will divide her time between homes in Florida and Massachusetts. 

“Judy Shaw is one the brightest and best-organized strategic thinkers I have ever had the pleasure of working with,” said Whitman.  “As my Chief of Staff when I was sworn in as Governor – the first woman to hold that position in the State of New Jersey - Judy was literally my right hand and a most trusted advisor.  Her distinguished career and her service to this state have been unsurpassed.  I wish my friend Judy Shaw a speedy recovery and nothing but the best as she moves on.” 

Shaw began her career in politics in the early 1970’s as an aide to Assemblyman Franklin Berry (R-Ocean), and worked for Gluck when she was an Assemblywoman, Lottery Director, and Commissioner of Transportation.  Shaw was the first woman to serve as a Governor’s Chief of Staff in New Jersey.
