Just an observation about New Jersey politics: Andy Unanue was able to win the endorsements of two substantial Republican county organizations – Ocean and Atlantic – even though he lives in New York, and indeed, has been skiing in Vail for the entire tenure of his candidacy for the United States Senate.

Quote of the Day
March 28, 2008
"I was spending more time in New York so I moved there .. .most of my cars are in New Jersey." -- U.S. Senate candidate Andy Unanue
-The Record, 03/28/08
The Unanue campaign is
The Unanue campaign is obviously taking its strategy from George Costanza:
Jerry: So, you're just taking off from work?
George: They won't know. I got the car there.
Jerry: Do you think this is such a good idea, with you being on the verge of this big promotion?
George: My presence, in that office, can only hurt my chances.
Bateman Campaign
At that time, we always felt it would have been better if he had left for Europe the day after the primary and returned the day after the general election, in wchich event he would likely have returned as Governor-Elect.
However, that does not mean that the Bateman campaign can fairly be compared to the brand new Unanue campaign. A campaign that is less than 1 week old, begun under the unique circumstances under which has begun, is simply too young a campaign to be judged. He may be a great campaigner and run a great campaign, it is simply too early to tell.
Of course, the endorsements referenced here were not based on his campaign to date, but were obviously based on the unhappiness of the various GOP organizations with the other available choices.
Bateman wasn't in Cape Cod in 1977
Wally -
Ray Bateman in 1977 vacationed for a short time in Maine, not Cape Cod.
