OVERTAXED TOWN OF THE WEEK:
Delanco Township
Resident asks ""Why Are Our Property Taxes Rising While
Ratables Are Rising?""
This was just one of the many questions regarding rising property taxes posed to Republican Freeholder Dawn Marie Addiego and her running mate at last night’s candidate’s forum. It is evident that residents are fed up with the misrepresentations and lies coming from the all-Republican freeholder board. They have their tax bills as proof. Because of the all-Republican freeholder board, taxes have increased by $.04 per $100 of assessed property value in Delanco. Democratic candidates Amy Vasquez and Dean Buono are committed to lowering property taxes in Burlington County by cutting wasteful spending.
“Dean and I are committed to lowering taxes for the people of Burlington County, stated Vasquez. “It is an outrage that county taxes have increased by over $12,000,000 when ratables are on the rise. Dawn Marie Addiego did not question the budget increases, did not challenge the budget increases and chose to appear for a photo-op instead of voting on the budget. Her inability to stand up for the people of Burlington County amounts to nothing short of professional malfeasance.
“They use smoke and mirrors to try to hide the fact that they have raised taxes. But people see right through the Republican freeholder’s attempts to deceive them. All they have to do is take one look at their tax bill. The Republican freeholder’s misrepresentations are insulting to me and they are insulting to the residents of Burlington County.
“There is a culture of wasteful spending by the all-Republican Freeholder Board. There is a rubberstamp freight train that runs through Mt. Holly. I will challenge wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars every step of the way, Vasquez stated.
Delanco Township is among the 32 towns out of the 40 municipalities in Burlington County where county taxes have increased.
Vasquez and Buono also remain committed to ending a culture of political favoritism in Burlington County government and making county government accessible and accountable to its people. For more information about Amy and Dean, log onto www.amyvasquez.com.
