(Cape May Court House, NJ)--Jeff Van Drew announced today that they are continuing the Nick Asselta truth watch and our still waiting for apologies for the untruths Asselta’s campaign has put forward. The worst of which was Asselta’s untruth that Van Drew voted to table a motion which would have helped remove sale of assets language out of the budget when Van Drew & Albano are officially recorded as opposing that vote to table.
“Little did their campaign realize that this was a recorded locked machine vote - they tried to promulgate a lie and they got caught with egg on their face- the least Nick could do is to stand up take responsibility and say he is sorry,” said Van Drew.
They are also waiting for an explanation of where the Senator was during critical budget hearings. According to the transcripts Asselta had nothing to say about the subject when a few months earlier he promised his constituents he would be their voice. He chose instead to be silent.
Van Drew also challenged Asselta to engage in a debate about other public policy issues as well.
“We need to talk about property taxes, prescription drug costs, evacuation concerns during coastal storms, educational issues, gas prices, and many other issues that are critical for our state. We need to respect our constituents and give them a campaign they deserve – a truthful campaign that presents ideas and solutions for our state,” said Van Drew.
