RAHWAY COUNCILMAN SINKS TO NEW LOW
6th ward Councilman was shamelessly the lone no vote on the all Democrat City Council's laudatory resolution honoring long serving Republican Frank Janusz.
Rahway – In what can only be viewed as a demonstration of political partisanship to the extreme the Democrat Council President exhibited behavior never before witnessed in Rahway politics. Council President Sammy Steinman shocked the entire room Monday night when he voted NOT to honor 4 term retiring Republican Councilman Frank Janusz with a laudatory resolution commemorating his years of service to the residents of the City of Rahway.
“Quite frankly I find this turn of events to be puzzling,” said GOP Chairman Pat Cassio. “I spoke to Mr. Steinman at the polls on Election Day. In fact we discussed Councilman Janusz's health problems and he, Steinman, seemed concerned. There is no other explanation other than this no vote to honor Frank Janusz is purely an act of political hatred and totally hypocritical coming from a guy who is always accusing his detractors of making everything political.”
Retiring from public service this year Councilman Janusz has had several major health issues to include the removal of a tumor just this past Election Day. He is currently recuperating under his doctor’s supervision this week. Maryanne Janusz expressed her dismay and said her husband always worked hard for the people in Rahway irregardless of their political affiliation and that was reflected at the polls. "My husband consistently won in a ward that is 3-1 Democrat. It didn't matter to Frank what party they were from, when his constituents called Frank, he always responded to their phone calls."
The GOP Chairman noted that Steinman has angered citizens all over Rahway with his disgraceful action and that many supporters of Councilman Janusz are demanding an apology. “I have received over a dozen calls since Tuesday about this tasteless partisan behavior not to mention the total childishness of kicking a guy when he is down”, added Cassio.
