With the highest property taxes in the country, the highest sales tax in the nation and the worst income tax of all fifty states, the question is what is the true cost to taxpayers? The answer lies in the impact on our lives and our ability to invest in our own quality of life. The collectivists in Trenton believe they have a right to take from those who are productive to give to those who believe they have a mortgage on the success of others. The impact of this central planning, collectivist philosophy is best demonstrated by illustrating just how much of our freedom they have stolen. Add to the already high cost of federal spending the increasing cost of the states bureaucracy and your time just melts away.
True Cost of Government
This Calendar shows the Number of days an average New Jersey citizen works to pay his or her share or the cost of government- it includes explicit spending of the government and also the hidden cost of state local, and federal Regulation. New Jersey taxpayers have to work more than half the year to pay for the cost of government. Little more than five months remain for housing, food, transportation, clothing, recreation, savings, investment, and all other living expenses.

New Jersey taxpayers have been straddled with the fastest growing tax burden in the country for five years. Every increase in government spending is another day, another week out of the lives of our residents. This robs people of the freedom to invest in their own lives and future. The big government advocates are continuing to demand more and more of our freedom. It is no wonder taxpayers are fleeing this state in droves. Its time the Republican Party took a stand and give these hard working Americans a reason to stay and fight.
