WAGNER BILL PROVIDING FOR OPEN SPACE PRESERVATION SIGNED INTO LAW (TRENTON) – Legislation sponsored by Assemblywoman Connie Wagner to help preserve open space has been signed into law. “This is a smart investment in our future and one the voters supported,” said Wagner (D-Bergen). “We’re combating sprawl, protecting our environment and water quality and preserving open space and creating parks that will be enjoyed in Bergen County for generations to come.” The preservation funding was approved by voters in 2007. The law (A-3897) provides $120.12 million for local government open space acquisition and park development. This includes $750,000 for Fair Lawn open space acquisition, $741,500 for Edgewater Borough Veteran’s Field improvements and $1.25 million for Bergen County for open space acquisition.
