CONAWAY WELCOMES FEDERAL FUNDING FOR NEW JERSEY SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAMS

CONAWAY WELCOMES FEDERAL FUNDING FOR NEW JERSEY SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAMS

(WILLINGBORO) - Assemblyman Herb Conaway, MD released the following statement in response to Governor Jon Corzine's announcement that New Jersey will receive nearly $2.8 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to assist Senior Nutrition programs across the state:

"This federal funding will provide meals to an additional 3,000 New Jersey seniors in-need.

"With a growing number of seniors looking to the state for assistance, this money will go a long way toward ensuring they're getting well-balanced meals to maintain quality health.

"Far too many seniors citizens are struggling with soaring grocery bills amid this economic storm that has rocked the most vulnerable and neediest residents of our state.

"I commend Governor Corzine's administration and our Congressional delegation for moving quickly to secure this money for those who need it most."
