UNION, NJ - Today the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Joint Council 73 announced their endorsement of Bill Baroni for State Senate in the 14th Legislative District. The IBT Joint Council 73 represents 60,000 members throughout New Jersey.
In addition to announcing the endorsement, IBT Joint Council 73 PAC Chairman Cliff Nolan criticized attacks from Bill Baroni’s opponent.
“Bill Baroni has always been an independent voice in the legislature and has stood up for the values of working families,” said Nolan. “There is no better friend to working families than Bill Baroni, and the Teamsters Joint Council 73 are proud to support his candidacy for State Senate. We are shocked by recent attacks by Bill’s opponent calling him a ‘Bush Republican.’ We know Bill Baroni--nothing could be further from the truth, and we call on his opponent to stop these senseless attacks.”
Baroni said he would continue being an independent voice in the State Senate.
“In the State Senate I’ll keep fighting for working families and I’ll keep being the independent voice I have been for the last four years,” said Baroni. “I am honored to gain the support of the Teamsters Joint Council 73 today, and I’ll continue standing by them and all working families in New Jersey.”
Baroni has numerous endorsements from labor and public service groups, including New Jersey AFL-CIO, the Service Employees International Union Local 1199, New Jersey Education Association, Health Professionals and Allied Employees, the American Federation of State, Local, and Municipal Employees, New Jersey Environmental Federation, New Jersey Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association, New Jersey Policemen’s Benevolent Association, New Jersey Fraternal Order of Police, Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey, Hamilton Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local #66, Hamilton Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association Local 84, Mercer County Building Trades, Middlesex County Building Trades, Mercer County Central Labor Council, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 269, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 9, Ironworkers Local 68, Sheetmetal Workers Local 27, Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local 89, Bricklayers and Allied Craftsworkers Local 5, Laborers Local 472, UNITE HERE Local 54, and the Communication Workers of America Locals 1031, 1033, 1034 and 1039.
