Rasmussen poll: Christie leads Corzine by 4 points

A new Rasmussen Reports poll has Republican Christopher Christie with a four point lead over Gov. Jon Corzine, 45%-41%, with 9% for independent Christopher Daggett.

Rasmussen says the race might be all about Daggett, who gained three points over the last week while Christie has lost two and Corzine is down three.

"The race may be even closer than those numbers suggest. When voters are asked their initial choice, 38% name Christie, 38% Corzine, and 16% prefer Daggett. But 57% of Daggett's supporters say they could change their minds before Election Day," Rasmussen said.  "That dwarfs the number of swayable Corzine and Christie voters."

Among Corzine supporters, 27% say they might still change their minds, while 20% of Christie supporters say the same.

"A plurality of swayable Daggett supporters and undecided voters indicate they are likely to end up voting for Christie," Rasmussen said.

Rasmussen poll: Christie has 8-point lead

Republican Christopher Christie has an eight point lead, 46%-38%, over Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll released today.  Christopher Daggett, an independent candidate, is at 6%, with 10% still undecided.

An August 27 Rasmussen poll that did not include Daggett had Christie ahead 47%-36%, with 7% saying they would prefer another candidate.

Rasmussen: "It's worth noting that other indicators suggest that Christie's lead might be a bit softer than the eight-point advantage indicates. Results before leaners are included show Christie up by just four points. Among those who are certain how they will vote, Christie leads by six. This suggests that the GOP campaign may be like a baseball team heading into the late innings with a lead but lacking a reliable closer. They're happy to be ahead but can't wait for the game to end so they can breathe again."

A Democratic poll conducted for Democracy Corps, an organization run by James Carville and Stan Greenberg, has Christie ahead by three points, 41%-38%, with Daggett at 10%.

Rasmussen: Christie leads Corzine by 13

A poll released today puts Republican Chris Christie ahead of incumbent Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine by 13 points.

In the automated Rasmussen Reports poll, which was conducted yesterday, Christie leads Corzine 51% to 38% -- a four point increase over Rasmussen’s last poll on the governor’s race.  Corzine has remained at 38%.  Getting over 50% in a poll is good news for any candidate, although the pollster said that it may be a temporary bounce.
“The slight increase in support for Christie may reflect a temporary bounce from his primary victory,” wrote the pollster in the poll’s summary.
