OBAMA TO COME BACK TO NEW JERSEY IN SUPPORT OF CORZINE, WEINBERG AND NEW JERSEY DEMOCRATS

The New Jersey State Democratic Committee today announced that President Barack Obama will be coming back to New Jersey on November 1 to help support Governor Jon Corzine and Senator Loretta Weinberg in their campaign for the State house, as well as Democrats up and down the ticket. This will be the President’s third visit to the state in support of New Jersey Democrats.

President Obama will be joined by Governor Corzine and Senator Weinberg at the Tweeter Center in Camden for a rally and then will head to Newark for another rally at the Prudential Center.

Sweeney Bill To Protect People With Developmental Disabilities Signed Into Law By Gov. Corzine

TRENTON – Gov. Jon S. Corzine has signed into law a bill sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Steve Sweeney to protect beneficiaries with developmental disabilities by requiring the trustees and guardians designated in a will to post a bond and periodically provide accountings to the court.

“Unscrupulous people who are looking to take advantage of someone to make some easy money have, unfortunately, preyed on the most vulnerable members of our society, including people with developmental disabilities,” Sen. Sweeney (D-Gloucester, Cumberland and Salem) said. “This bill will make sure the rights of people with these disabilities are protected when they are named beneficiaries of an estate.”

“The first quarter revenue figures reflect the continuing impact of the global financial recession. Fortunately, we based the state budget we approved in June on conservative revenue projections. While it is certainly disheartening that collections have fallen short of those projections, they are within the surplus we budgeted for.
