ADLER - 'FARBER MUST GO NOW'

Senate Judiciary Chair Says Unethical Behavior Brings into Question Mission of State's Top Law Enforcer

TRENTON - Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman John H. Adler, D-Cherry Hill, issued the following statement today regarding the report that Attorney General Zulima Farber violated the State's ethics code when she intervened at a traffic stop on behalf of her boyfriend, Hamlet Goore:

"Today's report from a special prosecutor, appointed by Governor Corzine to investigate the traffic-stop incident, has shattered hopes that Zulima Farber would raise the office of Attorney General to a level of integrity and excellence that we have a right to expect.

Special Prosecutor finds Farber violated ethics rules
Governor Corzine and Democratic Legislative Leaders must step up and ask for her resignation

Kinnelon – Larry Casha, candidate for 26th District Assembly issued the following statement concerning Special Prosecutor Richard Williams’ report on Attorney General Zulima Farber’s actions at a Fairview traffic stop:

“I applaud the work that Special Prosecutor Richard Williams has done in his investigation of Attorney General Zulima Farber. His report details that Farber did not uphold the law when she intervened on her boyfriend’s behalf to prevent him from receiving a ticket for driving without a license or registration.

“Based on the findings of this report I, along with the citizens of the 26th District, demand that she step down immediately.

“Our state has been plagued with unethical politicians and public servants and it’s high time that Governor Corzine and the Democratic Party live up to their statements that they will not stand for any appearances of impropriety from their highest government officials.

“If the citizens of this state cannot trust the chief law enforcement officer of our state to conduct herself in an ethical and upstanding manner, who can they trust?

“Enough is enough. It’s time for Farber to go.

PRESS RELEASE

Senator Gerald Cardinale

Farber Resign Now
Senator Gerald Cardinale, (R-Bergen), issued the following statement after the release of a report by Special Deputy Attorney General Richard J. Williams concerning the motor vehicle stop of Hamlet E. Goore.

I hope Zulima Farber will now exercise good judgment and resign. This would spare the Governor from the messy process of dismissing her for cause, and or the Legislature from moving forward with impeachment.

During the last five years that the Democrats have been in charge of state Government, New Jersey has been held up to national ridicule thanks to the procession of Democrat scandals which have engulfed the state.

The Williams report concludes that the Attorney General’s behavior was inappropriate, and must be addressed with further action. The two officers at the scene are being suspended for 14 days without pay. The Attorney General’s actions were far worse. She deserves a permanent suspension.

Attorney General's office suggests removal of "Click it or Ticket" PSA

At the request of the Attorney General's office, PoliticsNJ.com has removed an advertisement publicizing the Department of Law and Public Safety's "Click it or Ticket" campaign. In an e-mail sent to this website earlier this afternoon, David Wald, a spokesman for Zulima Farber, said: "Please take down the click-it-or-ticket link You know no one here ever asked for or authorized the link. Thanks."

PoliticsNJ.com had run this ad at no charge as a public service announcement. This website acknowledges not being asked to do so by the Attorney General's office, and we apologize for any embarrassment our publicizing of the Click it or Ticket campaign may have caused the Attorney General.

Editor's Note: According to the Attorney General's Office, the state spent $272,000 on radio, billboard and bus advertising for the Click it or Ticket in 2005 -- paid for by a federal grant. There was no advertising budget for this campaign in 2006; radio ads were paid for by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Zulima doesn't want to leave

Zulima Farber is strongly resisting advice from friends that she resign quickly, according to a source close to the Attorney General. In an interview last month, Farber had told NJN's Michael Aron that she would step down if the Special Prosecutor concludes that she should.
