Menendez approvals low

After about a year and a half in the Senate, Bob Menendez is struggling to become popular with New Jersey voters.

Voters disapprove of Menendez’s performance by a margin of 39 to 31 percent, according to a Quinnipiac poll released today – the lowest rating Menendez has received in that survey.

GLOBAL WARMING RESPONSE ACT SIGNED INTO LAW

Legislation sponsored by Senator Thomas Kean, and co-sponsored by Assemblyman Eric Munoz and Assemblyman Jon Bramnick, which would implement protocols to reduce the impact of greenhouse gases on global temperatures, was signed into law by Governor Corzine today.  The bill, S-2114/A3301, also known as the Global Warming Response Act, would adopt a multi-pronged approach to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels  no later than 2020 and to ensure that greenhouse gas emissions do not exceed more than 80 percent of 2006 levels by 2050.

Senate passes dual office holding ban

Already through the assembly, a bill banning dual office holding passed in the state senate on Thursday, 33-2.

Upset that the bill grandfathers legislators who currently hold two or more offices, the GOP was circling in the senate chamber, taking bites at the bill when an infuriated Sen. Ron Rice let them have it.

Greg Stevens, who served as Chief of Staff to Governor Thomas H. Kean and was the principal architect of his landslide re-election victory in 1985, passed away today. He was 58. A former newspaper reporter who later became a political consultant, Stevens was diagnosed with a brain tumor while serving as Douglas Forrester's strategist in 2005.

"Greg was a tremendous friend and advisor to our family," said State Sen. Thomas Kean, Jr. "He loved New Jersey very much and dedicated a significant portion of his career to making it a better state in which to live, work and raise a family."

Jose Sandoval is running for New Jersey’s Eight Congressional District. Jose has a BA in Economics and Finance from Rutgers University, and a law degree from Cleveland State University. He owns an urban real estate company in Paterson, New Jersey.
