Just the Latest to Express Her Disgust with Democrats’ Tax Increases?

According to reports on politickernj.com, Democrat Jersey City councilwoman Nidia Lopez may be the latest casualty to lose her job because of high tax policies embraced by Governor Jon Corzine. Nidia Lopez won election to the Jersey City Council despite possibly having unlawfully claimed her residency as Florida – a low tax state where New Jersey residents frequently move to avoid high taxes. If true, the councilwoman would almost certainly be removed from her position.

The residents of Warren and Hunterdon Counties do not need prolonged economic hardship to understand that Trenton desperately needs reform. They've been demanding it for the last eight years! They saw this economic crisis coming because of Democrat policies discouraging job creation and economic growth in our state. The question is why didn't Governor Corzine and Chairman Greenwald?

Last week the New Jersey State Legislature passed a $29 billion budget for fiscal 2010 which begins on July 1, 2009.  Governor Corzine's budget raises taxes on virtually all New Jerseyans during a period of rising unemployment, foreclosures and bankruptcies.  There is one word to describe this policy: dumb. 

Corzine is also continuing the practice of using one shot revenues to balance the books, a policy he has harshly-and rightly--condemned throughout his term. 

New Jersey residents are suffocating under the weight of state and local taxes. Tonight, the Legislature approved a budget that adds $1 billion to the already oppressive tax burden borne by Middle Class New Jersey.

Voters in New Jersey, where property taxes have risen relentlessly every year of Governor Jon Corzine's administration, are too smart to believe the governor's wild campaign claims of tax relief.

Senate Republican Whip Kevin O'Toole, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, said that Governor Corzine's huge, proposed income tax increases will kill jobs in New Jersey, even if they are "temporary' measures, as the governor claims.

The Governor simply refuses to match his actions to his rhetoric and stop perpetuating the myth that New Jersey can maintain a level of government far in excess of what it needs and can afford. 

New Jersey is in the ideal physical location to be the national economic leader among the states. It's not because of the public policies we have followed over the last eight years.

Oradell, NJ – Conservative Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Steve Lonegan today blasted Governor Jon Corzine's new proposed 10.75 percent income tax rate for families earning over $1 Million a year.
