Adolf to Beach: Say No to Corzine's Irresponsible Budget

Adolf to Beach: Say No to Corzine's Irresponsible Budget

Former mayor and early advocate of zero-based budgeting
demands Democrat vote against Governor's gimmicked budget

BERLIN – Joe Adolf, former Mayor of Magnolia and candidate for the State Senate in the 6th Legislative District, has called on Senator Jim Beach to oppose Jon Corzine's budget when it comes up for a vote before the full Senate.

"Jon Corzine's budget is nothing new," Adolf said. "From the one-shot gimmicks to the eye-popping deficit spending, there are two things Jon Corzine's budgets all have in common: they hurt middle-class families, and they fail to resolutely solve any of our state's fiscal problems."

The Governor's budget, if passed, would eliminate property tax rebates for almost two million New Jerseyans and will lead to more jobs moving out of state.

"South Jersey deserves better than Jon Corzine's budget," Adolf added. "South Jersey deserves better than to have Senators and Assemblymen who, instead of standing up for their constituents, back down to the Governor and the entrenched Trenton Democrats."

"The families of the 6th District cannot afford Jon Corzine's budget, and if I were in the Senate today, I would vote against this budget for that reason," Adolf concluded. "It is long past time we stop trying to balance our budget on the backs of our children, and instead make the tough decisions to bring about real budget and property tax reform in our state. I hope that Senator Beach will stand with me and oppose Jon Corzine's irresponsible budget when it comes to a vote before the full Senate."

PREVIEW - Senate To Vote On Economic Stimulus Bills Monday

PREVIEW - SENATE TO VOTE ON ECONOMIC STIMULUS BILLS MONDAY

TRENTON – The New Jersey State Senate is scheduled to meet on Monday to give final legislative approval to a package of economic stimulus bills intended to blunt some of the fiscal trauma the State faces as a result of the current economic crisis gripping the nation.

“Whether it’s struggling families or struggling businesses, these bills provide a broad range of assistance to help temper the blow of the continuing financial crisis,” said Senate President Richard J. Codey, D-Essex. “We can’t expect to solve a global crisis at the State level, but what we can do is find smart ways to direct our limited resources to those who need it most – the families fighting to get by on a daily basis, those clinging to their homes by a thread, and the businesses trying to survive and provide much needed jobs to our residents.”

Bob Martin Announces Comprehensive Anti-Gang Plan

Hopewell (July 20, 2007) – Bob Martin, Republican State Senate candidate in New Jersey’s 15th district, announced his comprehensive anti-gang plan today. This plan comes at a critical moment for Trenton, Ewing, and their neighboring towns, as gang violence has become a primary concern for residents who have experienced its effects in recent weeks. Trenton’s homicide count is currently up 75% from this point last year, and the repeated shootings on Brenwal Avenue in Ewing have caused an exodus from that neighborhood.

Senate Caucus

It's with mixed emotions that I think about the retirement of more than 1/3 of the State Senate's Republican caucus. I had the privilege and honor of working with each of the retiring Senators - Bark, Connors, Gormley, Kavanaugh, Littell, Martin and Palaia - during the years I served as governor. Each senator brought to his or her job an enduring dedication to their constituents and the job at hand.
