After months of showing a public display of unity with the Democratic political machine, incumbent District 37 legislators realized that the deal they reached with Chairman Ferriero a few month ago to save their positions has come back to haunt them.

Candidates Host ‘Fair & Clean Elections’ Advocate Bill Baroni

HACKENSACK – District 37 State Senate candidate Clara Nibot and Assembly candidates Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz and Frank Cifarelli today kicked off their “Fair and Clean” campaign with a special guest, Assemblyman Bill Baroni (Mercer, Middlesex), who traveled to Hackensack to offer his support to three Bergen County “Clean Elections” candidates.

Local primaries within the Democratic Party pitted two groups against each other: the Real Democrats and the official Bergen County Democratic Organization (BCDO) candidates. Both groups claimed that they are reformers, honest and full of ideas for the future if elected. What they did not tell the voters is that they heavily rely on special interest’s money that the Clean Election Program intends to eliminate.

In recent weeks, the political landscape in Bergen County has been shaken too many times. District 37 Republican candidates criticize incumbents legislators for secret deal making.

The Republicans for Responsible Government team Clara Nibot for Senate, Frank Cifarelli and Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz for Assembly filed the Declaration of Intent for NJ Fair and Clean Elections on April 25, 2007. The Legislative District 37 has been selected for this Pilot Program.

Nibot for Senate / Cifarelli, Siemaszkiewicz for Assembly Team defend Democratic reformers in District 37 since it appears that the Weinberg Team will not.

Three days after the Republicans for Responsible Government team filed their petitions to run Clara Nibot for Senate, Frank Cifarelli and Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz for Assembly, Democrat Bosses in Legislative District 37 have realized that having real primaries is not in their own interests. The incumbents, Senator Weinberg, and Assembly incumbents Johnson and Huttle were retained to carry on Democratic business as usual politics. The talk of far reaching reforms within the Bergen County Democratic Organization was suddenly abandoned in favor of preserving entrenched party power. Hundreds, if not thousands of reform minded, honest Democratic activists, who put
their political lives on the line for incumbent Senator Weinberg and Assembly incumbents Johnson and Huttle were sacrificed for their incumbents' own personal gain.
