WASHINGTON – Tomorrow is Tax Day, and U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) is working to make sure that every New Jerseyan is fully aware of the available tax rebates and is vigilant about scammers who are using the rebates as an opportunity to commit identity theft. This year, Congress passed an economic stimulus package to give a boost to the sagging economy – through that legislation, 3.8 million New Jerseyans are eligible to receive tax rebates this year.

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the United States Senate passed legislation that includes provisions which could lead to the creation of a National Museum of the American Latino, and also paves the way for the designation of various historic sites around the country after the legendary César Chávez. The Consolidated Natural Resources Act of 2008 (S. 2739), which the Senate passed today, includes both the Commission to Study the Potential Creation of the National Museum of American Latino Act of 2007 (S.500/H.R. 512), as well as the César Estrada Chávez Study Act (S. 327).

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the United States Senate passed a bipartisan bill to make the vision of a National Museum of the American Latino a reality. The Commission to Study the Potential Creation of the National Museum of American Latino Act of 2007 (S.500/H.R. 512), sponsored by Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO) and co-sponsored by Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Mel Martinez (R-FL), would establish a 23-member commission to study the potential creation of a national museum in Washington, DC dedicated to the art, culture, and history of Hispanic Americans.

WASHINGTON— Today the U.S. Senate passed an amendment, cosponsored by Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources., to extend renewable energy tax credits that would help fight global warming and wean us off of fossil fuels. The amendment provides a significant investment in solar energy, a critical developing industry in the state of New Jersey. Studies have projected that the renewable energy tax credit extension could create over 3000 new green collar jobs in New Jersey.

WASHINGTON—Jump$tart, a national coalition of organizations committed to improving the financial literacy of young people from kindergarten through college selected U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) as their 2008 Federal Legislator Award recipient. Last night, Sen. Menendez received the award, which is presented to two members of Congress each year for their leadership in championing the cause of personal financial literacy. 

The award comes as Jump$tart released a new study yesterday showing that financial literacy among high school seniors continues to decline.

Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today announced that the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will award the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC) with more than $1 million in federal funds.  The funding will support two separate initiatives: the New Jersey Sea Grant College Program and a study of the disease resistance of oysters.
