TRENTON – Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) released the following statement today on the outcome of the trial of former Senator Joseph Coniglio:

“The jury has rendered its verdict and I respect it. I have always known Joe Coniglio to be a caring and dedicated individual and this decision in no way changes my feelings for him.”

State Sen. Joseph Coniglio is the target of a federal corruption investigationBergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero will push State Senator Joseph Coniglio to drop his bid for re-election, according to sources close to the Bergen Democratic leader. But Ferriero, who paid for a poll earlier this month to test voter reaction to Coniglio as the target of a federal criminal investigation, has not yet told Coniglio that the party will ask him to end his campaign for a third term.

The Senate today approved legislation sponsored by Senator Joseph Coniglio that would crack down on unwanted commercial electronic messages, or "spam." by expanding the federal CAN SPAM Act of 2003.

"Spammers are constantly developing new ways to get around spam filters and blockers, often committing fraud or theft to get their messages through," said Senator Coniglio, D-Bergen. "We need to stay ahead of the spammers in order to protect the efficiency and security of the Internet."

WEINBERG/CONIGLIO MEASURE TO CREATE COUNTY OFFICES OF DISABILITY SERVICES CLEARS SENATE HEALTH PANEL

TRENTON – A measure sponsored by Senators Loretta Weinberg and Joseph Coniglio which would permit any county in the State to establish an office of disability services was unanimously approved today by the Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee.

TRENTON - The Senate approved legislation today sponsored by Senator Joseph Coniglio which would end penalties for temporary workers who refuse to accept a new assignment upon the completion of an old assignment.

"We currently have two separate and unequal standards in New Jersey when it comes to determining unemployment benefit eligibility," said Senator Coniglio, D-Bergen. "Temporary workers have a much harder time qualifying for unemployment benefits, forcing them to move from one assignment to another with little hope of being able to seek full-time employment."
